So I suspect the 4Runner is going to become even more related to the Tacoma than it has been in the past. I understand that the F1 architecture will essentially make *all* of Toyota's trucks/SUV's related, but it seems like the Taco and 4Runner will be stealing notes off of each other more than the others.

Also curious if coil sprung rear suspension is in the cards for the 4th gen Taco now, given that the Tundra is all but confirmed to have it. Would make a lot of sense, since I believe it will help with packaging and reduce weight(?) vs leaf packs?

I was going to buy one if I got another mid size truck, but I began having trust issues with GM products and ultimately went with the Tacoma instead.

I think the commentator is wrong and the trail edition does NOT come with a 6MT, as it did not in 2021, unless it has changed. Can anyone confirm?

I believe you may be correct. However this was a quick sneak peak video. I expect they'll have their facts more straight when they get the chance to do a full video.

not sure but Toyota Canada references a transmission cooler and has automatic only in brackets. Maybe suggesting a mt is available

nice to see rear locker this year.

I think that was generic language Cir the Tacoma Tow Package, rather than referring to the Trail Edition itself snd the Tacoma Tow package comes on other trims that have 6MT available. I guess we’ll see.

It did seem generic copy and paste from Toyota on that part. Hopefully the new power train comes in 2023, when I’m looking to upgrade my 2005

I believe the next Tacoma is scheduled for 2024ish, and that will likely get the update.

I suspect it'll still be the 3.5 V6, but with a new transmission behind it. An all-new engine, if it comes, will probably happen further into the lifespan of the F1 Tacoma.

If that’s true I’ll go manual. At least Toyota still gives us that choice
