Seriously. I’m ready to tear them out of the ground. They’re a complete waste of water and time.

Yea, I had over a degree of toe on both sides. The guy gets it on the rack and goes “uhhh, looks like you hit something pretty big” lol

You forgot the part where the mighty 2nd gen easily bested a 3rd gen and its fancy MTS on a steep sandy hill. Rollover risk be damned! :D

agreed. Not to mention that water is already hard to get already. wasting it on making your desert look "green" is dumb. If you're going to mandate lawns, then drip irrigation should be more common rather than flood irrigation. I saw no problem with my dirt lot...

Whats up guys, I am doing a trip out your way in August. My dad is driving over from NorCal and hopping in my rig somewhere around SLC and then we are heading north. I am hoping to find a fellow TWer here who could let us park my dads truck somewhere secure for about 2.5 weeks. Or if you have a suggestion of a shop or something I could patronage who would let us park around back. IDK, just trying to figure something out. We did this back in '16 and just caravanned around that trip and I really missed not riding together shooting the stuff between destinations.. Would love to be able to have him riding shotgun with me. Lemme know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Ha! that is awesome, yeah I was behind you in my business wrapped subaru for awhile. What other things did you do, which bed rack etc. I had interest in doing a RTT and a mid/low bed rack but I also like my bed and didn't want to completely kill MPG/ become a windsail.

If you keep the rtt on a low or even a even with the top of the back window the mileage drop really isnt too bad.

Mine tucks in right behind my prinsu (white truck) and the mileage didn't noticeable change with it on or off. E rated coopers though...#oof

I think I remember seeing that Subaru. I've got an RCI 12" bed rack with the Tepui Autana 3 tent. My mileage takes a small hit with the tent on, but not too bad. Maybe .5 to 1 MPG.

I followed you for awhile... speed too :D
Do you still use your bed? I have a cover and that is something I know wouldn't work very well with a rack..

Oh I know I was speeding. I was ready to be home. And that definitely kills the gas mileage more than the tent.
I use my bed quite a bit, but I also have a lift in my garage so I can take the tent and rack off or put it back on in all of 15 minutes.

There's the catch, I'd love to be able to have an on/off lift but mine doesn't ift in the garage...

That was a requirement when we bought our house. That definitely complicates things
