What’s up everyone! Currently in process of blacking out my Tacoma which includes the emblems. I’m debating on whether I’d like to keep the SR5 emblems or remove them and keep the Tacoma emblems only. Thoughts?

I honestly think it looks cleaner without them. I’d remove them if I had them.

Slick for me. I did keep the 4x4 and v6 emblem on the back though. One of these days I'll take them off.

Did you just peel them off? I’ve heard you need fishing line and goo-gone or acetone for the residue.

I used a single strand of 550 cord to saw away (pull towards you). Then used a heat gun and my finger to get most of the gunk off (don't burn yourself!) A small anount of goo gone for the rest. There was a slight outline of where the emblems were for a while, but eventually came off with more washes.

The stuck on chromed plastic emblems look tacky IMO. All had to go.

I plasti dipped mine first, but when it wore out I said screw it and took them off. It was a hassle to respray. Probably would have just bought the black overlays instead.

Good luck OP, the slick look will grow on you! You can always buy the blacked out emblems and throw them back on if you dont like it.

I used dental floss and a heat gun on low setting, warmed to about 110. Emblem came right off, they separated from the tape. Tape peeled off with my fingers. Had to heat it a time or two. Used wd40 to clean off the remaining residue which was minimal.

Used the heat gun only for the TRD Off-Road decal. Had to apply low heat once or twice. Minimal wd40 cleanup.

Not sure why people tell it like it's harder than it is. Fishing line and fingers, and it was almost freezing outside. Nothing else needed.

I don't know if I would use acetone. But I have used Ronsonol Lighter fluid many times with great success. I keep a bottle around just for removing road tar and decals. Just remember to wax after using.
