Starlink is supposed to be the cash cow that pays for his Mars city. One would think they’d get the cash flowing As soon as they could :notsure:

You're not sharing the bandwith with the folks around the world.

Each sat can only be in the view of a certain number of ground stations at a time, and if there's no ground stations, it's sitting there not making money. Same sat can serve both someone CONUS and on it's orbit, someone say, in africa, without using each other's bandwidth.

Just want to apologize for the off topic group of posts last night. My bad.

I did connect and then was prompted to do a firmware update and I let it do its thing then got busy with moving activities.

planning to mount on the roof tomorrow with the volcano mount.

Thanks. The instructions with the roof volcano mount says to place with a northern sky view so hopefully that will work out with my tree canopy.

So when you get the ok to give them the rest of your money, there’s options for different mounts you can get?

    Thanks for the pics!

yes. There is a roof shingle mount “the volcano” which I bought. I think there was a pole mount but I could have dreamed that. Then the tripod table looking mount comes with the dish. That’s attached in the pictures I posted.

It comes with the tripod mount and you can buy a roof or pole mount separately.

Starlink is no joke and is faster than my hard line cable internet.

I don't have mine yet but am planning the install ahead of time and wanted to see if anyone lives in an area with high winds.

I live in central Washington and have winds most summer afternoons 10-15 miles an hour and then we regularly have winds over 20 miles an hour with gusts 30+ (highest gust was around 55 MPH).

How will the Starlink dish handle that kind of wind? I am going to try and get it in to an area with a little bit of a wind break but that will be tough because then I may have some trees blocking.

Mine is regularly in winds above 20mph weekly and 30+ a couple times a month and it hasn't been a problem.

Thanks, I haven't seen a lot about users in areas with high wind and was worried it wouldn't hold up.

Musk makes rockets that go into orbit then return to earth and land. I'm pretty sure these dishes will by fine in any and all weather conditions. lol

My dish is fairly exposed where it's at as well.

And this is what the pole mount they sell looks like. It just uses four set screws to clamp onto a wide range of pipe sizes.

I didn't know this thread existed. Papa Elon would approve. I got my dishy in early May, ordered in early April. It's a lifesaver! Beats the 3Mbps.

I don't have mine yet, and I live in a similar area. I'll only have maybe two spots to pick from, and may have to move it summer to winter. I have a slab of 2'X4'X2" concrete I can mount it on, and move if needed. Maybe one roof option, if I trim/ remove two trees. Hope it works!:fingerscrossed:

I watched a YouTube video of a guy in Colorado installing his dish on his roof in a very high wind area and the dish withstood the wind.

    here’s the video link:

I used my new street address and it said mid-to-late, but the town they had was wrong for the address. I used the + code and got a "order now" option.

What’s this “+ code” you speak of?

How do we get one? :D
