What Chainsaw do you run?

I’m still trying to wrap my head around when we will put it to use. Our 460’s turn chain on 36” bars just fine. The 660 usually makes an appearance once or twice a season depending on the country we are in.
It weighs about as much as a 460 but hasn’t been proven to perform in the same capacity yet. I worry the push to prime bubble will wear out or worse melt if you’re dogged into a burning tree.

 

Was already on the ground. I don’t fell them. But the son and I cut it up! Big ole maple and there was a locust out front Just as big.... love that saw. 2 tanks worth of sawing .... glad it was cool out and the drizzle was making me wanting to keep cutting !

 

Just found this thread. I use a Stihl 461 with a 25" bar at work. It had a little work done to it and works well. Here's a picture of a pine I pushed over and sawed the stump off of. 51" across the long side and 48" on the short side.

 

You have dirty wood I wish I had something to pluck wood with ! Looks like fun!

 

It can be hard on chains that's for sure. I'm lucky because I really like my job. Just a kid playing with big toys.

Husky L65 and stihl 090 competition saw.
090 has a larger displacement than my yz125 dirtbike so that gives an idea what it’s like to run one. Way too much power and tries to vibrate out of your hands

 

Just picked up an M12 Hatchet.

 

In the pile, or on the landing, I still can swing the McCulloch Pro 10-10.

Anywhere else, the Husky 372 XP is so much lighter.

Anyone running electric? Been looking at stihl, that’s the saw I’ve got now. For camping and travel I don’t want to deal with the fuel anymore.

Ego 18, until it leaked bar oil in the case. I tried to fix it, but ended up frying the motor. I still need to contact Ego for a warranty claim (5 year) It probably would have been fine if I didn't mess with it.

Have you any cordless tools now? Maybe go with what you already have batteries for? Neighbor has a craftsman cordless saw and is the same weight as my husky 550xp! I have ryobi cordless for the most part and I’d feel inclined to buy there saw but haven’t felt that I needed a cordless saw. Plus when I bring my xp out, my neighbors drool

 

Great suggestion but unfortunately I’ve got dewalt 18v and the batteries already kind of suck. Needing something that can do a bunch of cuts on a charge and have a decent bar

 

If you buy the

$300 DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Chainsaw Kit, 5-Ah Battery, 12" (DCCS620P1)

Dewalt 20v with the battery and charger, then you can buy an 18v adaptor to use the 20v battery in your 18v tools.

I also run the Dewalt 20V adapter. Tools work just fine.

Be aware, when you leave a 20V battery in the adapter, it will slowly drain (due to the design of the new wiring.). No problem, just remove your battery from the adapter when not in use.

I found getting the tool adapter and battery apart a real challenge. I'm using my dewalt nimh batteries until they're dead! Then changing.
