If it helps I went through the research process last week, and that’s how I ended up in this thread actually. I ordered my CVT Mt. Hood a week ago yesterday and it’s due to be delivered today. I currently own a CVT soft shell and their customer service is great.

 

That’s who I’ll be going with for my new 4Runner.

 

i expect a full refund, but being at work has us talking via voice mail.

 

I just emailed them and asked if they can stop my shipment and give me a full refund based on all these reviews and ordering in February. I’ve been told multiple times I’d have my tent when I still don’t and they’ve had the container for almost 3 weeks now and my tracking hasn’t updated in 2.5 weeks. The worst online shopping experience I’ve ever had.

 

I didn’t want to order with out seeing one, but there is no place close to see any, and then being closed down due to Covid, figured for 3 grand it can’t be that bad. Well, they didn’t even try to convince me that I wouldn’t need to moddify to keep my tent dry and clean. THAT IS NOT GOOD.

 

Does Maine Line Overland have anything in stock you could see? I feel like there was another place up your way too that was overland based but I'm drawing a blank on the name.

 

I didn’t dig deep enough to answer that, but now that we are opening back up I’ll do more research.

mans at this point I’ll just use my summer camping gear, as I wanted the RTT for spring camping, traveling and fall camping.

 

CVT Mt Hood is made on the same line as the Ninja. I have a picture of it. The roofnest and DA’s and CVT all lined up in China for the QC and pictures for the buyers (owners of companies, respectively)

So essentially you bought the same tent DA has in stock. Bobby’s just been in the game longer. He’s good people though.

 

You’re getting a soft cover tent as I recall… should have or is getting shipped now. You won’t have to worry about the cover gap.

 

Well if you're still in the market I go to southern NH numerous times each summer to wheel and train at Sig Sauer, so you're welcome to meetup and look at mine if you want and it's something you want to physically see in person.

Oh I believe that. But when I wanted a few questions answered about the Ninja, and I called the number listed for DA, it went to some janky Google Voice mailbox that nobody answered. Whereas I called CVT three times over two days with questions and got a live person right away to answer my questions. So while the product is essentially the same, the people backing them up are entirely different it seems. If I can't get a live person on the horn to convince me to spend my money, I highly doubt the experience is going to get better after I've shelled out thousands of dollars.

 

Oh and CVT honored the 15% TacomaWorld discount that they offered three years ago so if you call definitely ask for that.

 

Has anyone gotten the Grunt tent yet? I ordered one late January and have yet to see movement on the tracking. Almost too hot already to camp in Texas..

Valid point. Cannot argue with this. CVT makes 9 mil a year profit. Has 3 stores and a a good amount of employees. They better answer the phone lol

 

Wow. I figured they were doing good but that really puts how much product they move into perspective.

 

They’re shipping today.
They were supposed to go yesterday, but there wasn’t enough room on the FedEx truck.

No issues with soft shell. Few guys have them. I’m not sure who on here. I know a few on Instagram.

 

Yep. They move tons of product. Maybe it’s not 9 mil profit, but they’re a 9 mil a year company. The RTT business is.. well.. it’s booming.

DA isn’t some chump change company either tho. Not like some of the equivalent start ups from last year. Not that I have to defend them.

Same deal as Grunts. Not enough space on the dang trucks. Fedex is supposed to send out multiple trucks today.
Let me see if I can get a picture of the tents all stacked up and working on going out the door
