Gotta share this here cause you guys will understand... I figure, it's a Thursday afternoon, I'm going to run up AF canyon and go check out Timpooneke since I haven't been up there in a minute. Pretty peaceful at first, but then I notice one dude has parked on an offshoot trail completely blocking it with his truck and trailer, and he's nowhere to be seen. Then I start to see quite a few RZRs and motorcycles, which is fine but usually you can avoid those on weekdays. Covid I guess.

Then I start to see all makes and models bumping up the trail at 2mph. Subarus, Hondas, Toyotas, you name it. The 4Runners were the most courteous. A dude in an F150 asks me for directions to a pond. I don't know, there's like 4 or 5 up there? And he doesn't have maps. Finally I've turned around, coming down and a minivan flies up the trail, barely giving me time or space. I pull off as far as I can and he whacks my mirror with his and drives off without even a wave. Then I'm finally almost back to the pavement and I turn the final corner to see this massive class C motorhome bouncing up the trail! haha. I was too amazed and I forgot to tell him that just a half mile up the trail there's a large fallen tree taking up half the trail - and I have no idea how he's going to perform a 19 point turn on a 10 foot wide trail.

And this wasn't even a weekend! ha! Here's a couple pics, didn't take my Tacoma today but it's still a Toyota. Beautiful weather and scenery though, I'm just going to wait for the offseason before I head up there again.

Dude...AF canyon is so easilya ccessible it's inviting so much riffraff who have no business being up there. I remember a straight up full size RV bus going up the alpine loop road...way past the timpooneke turnoff. I have no clue how he was planning on getting around those turns. Let alone turned around enough to get off.

Totally, crazy. Similar reason I don't really go up the Cottonwoods either, don't feel like standing in line to go hiking. Almost too accessible to the city.

That cruiser is beautiful. My fav is all the "photographers" that will block half the road with their car on the Alpine loop so they can take pictures of themselves in a meadow.

    Not much stock left.
Yes, you speak truth. CRAWL did disappoint this round. I had to go old school and reverse, then rein gage with the rear locker and some momentum. You know, 2nd Gen technology.

It was a good time last time I went. I may wander down if I can bang out a MTB ride before then to beat the heat.

I thought about that too, but I may stay in Lehi and go to a fitness expo after so I don’t want to leave the bike on my truck. And I’m not getting up early enough to go home and shower before heading to cars and coffee.

Has anybody been up to Echo Lake off Mirror Lake Hwy this year? Planning on going up there in a week or so, never been. I have a stock 4Runner coming with me..I heard the trail does require 4x4..hoping it'll be able to make it fine? Any pointers on good places to camp and/or spots on the lake to fish?

Not this year yet, but you really don't need 4x4 except for maybe one spot to where we camped just due to being off camber. There's just a few places that get a little rocky, but nothing truly difficult. 4Runner will be more than fine.

I'm going up there next week. If you do go this weekend, give me a skeeter report. I'm hoping it's not terrible quite yet.
