I had a simialar issue with the key to a 4runner i purchased. The key would turn the ignition but not lock/unlock any doors. I had new keys made at Groove Toyota and no longer have any issues locking/unlocking doos with the newly made keys.

How much they charge you? Figured Stevinson would be more $$ than Groove. Since Stevinson West is closer to golden - might be cheaper for Otter than driving to Groove in Englewood

That's all good to hear. I was getting ready to sell my kidney to the dealership. The truck came with 2x keys and 1x fob. The fob provided was inconsistent in operating. I got a second Chinese one and that's also starting to go bad. I have to rip it open to unlock the truck sometimes. I'm counting down the days until I'm stranded in the woods.

I've been in the door and hardware business for 21 years and if you're able to turn the key at all and it feels obstructed it's not your key or the pins it's probably the cam on the back of the cylinder. Open up your door panel and see what's going on there. If it were the key or the pins in the cylinder you wouldn't be able to turn the key at all.

Well, Groove was rather inexpensive (like no charge) since I was having service performed as well and for a 3rd gen 4runner with no chip. Also, had a basic key cut at Stevinson and that was reasonable as well. The expensive keys are the ones with chips.

I've been a door and lock whore for 30 years now, and I agree, there is an obstruction or damaged internal linkage in the door.
Rip that door panel off, grab your favorite flashlight, and take a peek. It costs nothing to look and maybe have a "aha" moment.

FWIW, I have an '08 Sienna that we've had since new.
Only ever used one of the keys in the ignition and only unlocked with the fob. That key wore with the ignition and works fine in it but the fob wore out. Key will not unlock the door since it's worn with the ignition. The other, previously untouched key works fine with the previously untouched door and works but is weird in the ignition. Swapped fobs and use the new fob with the old key and all is well.
The point is, if you never use your key in the door it may not work after years of wearing with the ignition.

If the key turns at all then the shear line has been aligned so your problem is elsewhere like the cam or something.
Take the door panel off and look before you pay to get repinned and have keys cut.

*** Just realized I'm in the trading post ... Sorry for the BS everyone!
