I purposely bought an AC for two reasons...
    A: 6' bed
B: It gave me a perfect reason to say 'Sorry... Can't ride with me. Well ... Technically you could, but nobody over the size of a 5 year-old would last more than 10 minutes riding on those jump seats .. So... You really don't want to test yourself on that...' Which works because I'm not letting some nephew I can't stand to begin with, eat Taco Bell all over the back of my truck.

    Yes - this!
I had to wait 7 months to get a 4x4 AC, but well worth it! Not many around here in NorCal...

Actually.... it is tied down with a proper ratchet strap. I assure you, no one was in any danger here!

Looks great and you were smart enough to get a mid rise, great for camping in the bed or even crawling in to it.

Well .. that is one route you can go .. But...
Let's say yer wife loves her niece/nephew (Who I will call 'Little Timmy/Tammy Taco Tosser') and has zero prob with T&T dumping 1/2 of a burrito supreme all over the back of the truck (Along with a 20 oz Pepsi) and taco trimmings ... Knowing that it won't be her that has to clean that shit up..
And me, not wanting to be The Asshole about it.. Cuz I'd like to sleep in the bed and not the couch that night....
It's much more easy to Plan Ahead .. And keep any probs from happening in the first place. It's much more easy that way .. LOL!
So far, it's worked great for me..

So... we take a different approach to get to the same end. To each his own! I just don’t “generally” allow passengers and ive never allowed food to be eaten in my truck! That includes me.

Single parent of two kids here, still chose the ACLB. Though partly because my eldest will likely be driving her own car in 2 years, so figured I’d get what I want now and not have to trade it in 2 years.

    thanks,

yes have been down that road before with a topper.. (had a Std-cab with mid rise) Now have the Leer 180 mid rise on the new 2021 and is the only way to go if you plan on camping in the back. I don't do build outs, I go ultra-light with some gear I already own. Plus I can haul my mtb in the back easier with a mid-rise.

Proportions are off on the access cab, it's not because of the doors, but because of the window and the pillar around it. Bring the rear line of the window closer to the rear door seal and give it the same kink to the bottom edge as the crew cab and it would be as good looking as the old Hilux and Hardbody king cabs of the early 90's.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
Is there really an added 6 inches of depth in the seats, and 6 inches of leg room between the rear seats and front seat back on the DC?

I looked in one yesterday while at the dealer for the 5 month check up. That back area looks just about as cramped as the AC. Plusher perhaps, but certainly not roomy!

I will say though. A DCLB caught my eye. Do they make them with a 6 speed?

    ;-)

did a 30 second mspaint job to give an idea of what I mean. Both with and without the B-plllar area painted in.

I fully agree, the rear window is weird, and it should have been better shaped. I still much prefer the overall proportions of the ACLB versus DCSB (DCLB looks great to me as well).

Who says you have to give up the DC to get a 6' bed?

Toyota does if you want a manual transmission in the US. Otherwise I would have gotten the DCLB. But I wanted my stick more than I wanted a big back seat; the kids can just deal with it.

What’s weird (to me anyway) is that Canada does get the stick DCLB. No idea why they don’t at least offer it in the US, even if it required special ordering or something since they do actually make one.

That second picture really does make the truck look more natural, I will say I was looking into vinyl wrapping my b pillar and tinting the front windows to give the truck a similar look, if I go through with it I’ll definitely post some pictures
