That was the first time I recall seeing stage one rotate so quickly after sep/stage to ignition. So often they seem to coast to apogee or slowly flip and then drive downhill back towards the ship.

Looks like it's based on the Concord. I wonder how they will address the noise issues?

What you’re describing is the trajectory for a Starlink (or other non-ISS type) launch. It’s more of a parabolic curve.

It has to do with the orbit needed and the fact it brings the booster too high or far out.

Search for ‘boost back burn’ on YT. Some amazing videos esp the ones landing back at the Cape.

The FHs are double the fun

4.5 billion fly on proven airplanes. This is a new airplane that very few people have flown on, or will have flown on once it goes into service. Starship on the other hand will likely have hundreds of launches before people are put on board. They will likely use Starship to deploy Starlink, and that could happen by the end of the year, though it will likely start next year. And since they still have 11,000-40,000 satellites to deploy, that project alone will give them a ton of experience launching and landing them safely. Just take a look at Falcon9. It's bigger news when they don't land than when they do and I believe they just hit their 100th launch recently.

Infrastructure is needed for sure, but if the oil rigs work out that takes care of a majority of it. As for starships, production speed is only going to get faster. And when compared with Boeing's production of 380 commercial aircraft a year, it's not hard to see Spacex being able to pump out the needed rockets. Especially when the demand won't be as high for them at first because people will be too scared. As for regulations I believe this sums that up perfectly...

If you’re a fan of sci fi novels it’s amazing how closely this is following the Fire Star trilogy. Almost like these folks read the books.

Elon has probably read them. He is a scifi buff, and names a lot of stuff after his favorite movies and books.

I hope not. Otherwise some studio might make it a series and then butcher the last season...

It’s about private companies using space. One of the keys is a reusable space craft that takes off and lands vertically. They also use it for rapid hops around earth.

Michael Flynn. Firestar, a four book series. Fire Star, Rogue Star, Lode Star & Falling Stars.

Yea, google comes up with the dragon books first, you have to dig a bit. But google Michael Flynn Firestar and you should find it.
