Subcompact 9mm suggestions

I'm looking to get a subcompact 9mm when I come back off my current depoyment. I've looked at the Kel-tec and Kahr PM9 so far since that was all ny local gun shop had in stock. What do you guys reccommend?

 

THe M&P is good, as is walther and HK, I've had all and I preferred the walther b/c I have smaller hands.

 

Only gonna do that when the navy moves me... its a burden

Well you can get two keltecs for the price of the Kahr. The PM9 has been on my list for a while now. I just won't buy a new one.

Ruger has out a new pocket sized 9mm. A buddy of mine got to handle one and said it was a nice gun.

I recently picked up a Ruger SR9c and I like it very much. It's the same size as a Glock 26, but shoots a little smoother. Not a pocket, but still a subcompact.

 

I really like my S&W M&P!!

 

i have a KelTec PF9 its an awesome CC gun in that it is very light and thin especially with the belt clip....the only real downside is the trigger is a little long but its not as heavy as the p11

i also have a M&P9c its a double stack so it weighs more than the keltec and its a bulkier...

Both are made in the USA and both have a lifetime warranty....right now S&W has an offer you get 2 free magazines with the purchase of a M&P so you will have a total of 4 mags with your purchase

For a subcompact 9mm you cant go wrong here. They fit in your hand so nicely and are sloped/articulated so well you will think it was custom designed for you. The recoil is almost nil and the gun is a tact driver even when you empty it as fast as you can. And being a Glock you'd be safe going with a used one to save some money. Note on used Glocks: Break it down and look at the bottom of the slide. There should be a dirty gold(ish) goop predominantly around the back (around the round button looking thing). If there isn't then walk away.

 

The S&W Bodyguard is nery nice but it's a .380. Still lazer aiming is nice and it is very small, easy to carry.

 

my g/f and i are getting an XD9 sub, she likes it mainly because of the safeties, plus it feels great in your hand IMO

 

x2 on the m&p9c. i suggest going to the range and renting each gun you are interested in and then making you decision.

for a single stack 9mm I would look at the taurus pt709, they are priced decent and have had for the most part good reviews.
if you have more money to spend Kahr makes a nice one too.

for double stack you cant go wrong with either the glock or xd.

That ain't gonna fly in CA. 10 round mags. But the pistol still might be available.

 

SIG P250 2Sum. Full Size and Subcompact in the same box for about the same price as the Kahr. Gotta swap fire control groups between the frames...but it's so easy. Also gives you the option to get the caliber XChange kit down the line to swap around to a different round if you want.

 

I've had my Khar CW9 for a few years now and carry it whenever legal and safe to do so. For the price it's a great carry piece mainly due to the slim profile and reasonable weight. I'd go for a PM9 if I had the extra $$ but having put over 1,000 rounds through the CW I can say that it impresses me with how reliable it has been considering the rather low cost. Got it for just over $400.

Of course my Glock 19 would be great to have on my hip but being 5'4" and ~140lbs I have to opt for the smaller piece in public.

 

I have a M&P9 and the wife has the Keltec PF9. I like both but for CC the PF9 is much better for conealing. But it is just a "get to your next gun" gun. With 7+1 and only 10 - 15 yards tops effective range you should not depend on it for prolonged engagement.

 

Some people use the analogy of a gun as a tool. And in that respect comparing a tools quality to another is best described in how it is used.

Reading how Sig Sauer and H&K guns are used by SWAT teams are enthralling and makes everyone want the same guns they use. But they are not something useful to the regular person that carries. You don't need a trigger guard that is large enough for gloves. You dont need a five inch threaded barrel. You do not need to spend $1,500 on a gun and fit it with another $1,000 in accessories.

If you are a civilan you are not going to be in a standoff situation where you will need to shoot someone at 50 yards. If you ever have to use your firearm it will be with in ten feet of the assailant. And trust me the bigger the bullet is not the better.

If you need to ever use a gun you will want it to work with you. You will want it to fit your comfort zone, have recoil that is comfortable to you, work even after sitting around for ever, have enough to tear apart a criminal, and above of all be reliable.

Any cheep shit gun like a Tarus, Ruger, S&W will fire a bullet. But they are trash. Trash like the Ford Ranger is trash.

For a low price 9mm go with the Glock 26. If you can get 'em go with the Ranger SXT +P+ or at least the Remington Golden Saber. The cavitation from either of these is like a having a one foot hole punched threw you. 9mm or not, that will take down anything.
