When its freaking -20 outside, my remote starter is a god send. I would much rather jump into a 60 degree truck with the heated seat warmed up then a -20 degree truck.
Screw them, i work for a living, i will idol all damn day if i want.

Look at all the Diesel trucks in the winter at truck stops, they never shut off.

I have a small exhaust leak in my F250 so when I let it warm up in the mornings its not there when I take off out of the driveway. And if I didnt have an exhaust leak I'll let that 460 motor idle as long as it takes to warm up in the cab and to have all the ice melt off.

I just keep the rpms around 1500 and dont idle. Just deal with the cold for a few more minutes. plus the oil in the diff. needs to thin out some. However, I do not and will not cut my motor off every time i hit a light on red.

I think it is possible the earth is heating up. Why not? it's been heating and cooling for 4.5 billion years or so. (not 5000) Maybe we ARE helping. Why not? we burn fuels at a record pace. We invented R-12 refrigerent. I think it's possible we are not alone in the universe as well. Why not? I only know I am not sure enough to say one way or another on any of these subjects and don't think anyone here is either.

just a counterpoint for MATTCOMBS and T4DADDY earlier is all. I heat my truck with a remote to melt the ice in the morning and don't care about the gas.

Anyone living in a colder climate cannot just start the truck and go. It's near impossible to do that where I live

Global warming might me exaggerated but it's far from BS. There's a mountain of evidence showing the polar caps are melting. The ones that are studying global warming aren't the ones that are flying around in personal jets living in giant houses.

Driving off after you start you engine is not bad, as long as you give it about a minute to settle and don’t race it when you start moving. When you are idle when it is cold your engine is in open loop mode longer (basically choke mode) your air to fuel ratio is a lot different than normal running conditions. There is more fuel to air. Why do you think city drivers have more garbage in their oil then with the same amount of mileage a country drivers do, they idle more. I have seen this in person with my father and mothers vehicles, one drives in the city and the other does not. Why do you think your max hp and tq ratings are not low rpms? Perhaps because they are not as efficient running at lower rpms.

Well what about Mr. Gore? Its been proven that the globe has been in a cooling trend for about a decade. Ice caps melt and growback every year. The scam of global warming is to control business and pass a carbon tax. RESEARCH CLIMATEGATE! the earth at times had up to 20 times more carbon in the atmosphere.. man made global warming is the greatest LIE ever sold to the public. Al Gore is a CON-MAN THAT CLAIMED HE INVENTED THE INTERNET and made almost a billion dollars in "green energy."

That would be a good idea or just look around you at how well our country is fairing with the current government, lol. That should clear things up a bit.

I idle every morning for a good 5-10 mins whether its cold or hot out. When I get into my truck I want it to be comfortable. I also leave my truck running outside of stores and what not if I'm going in for a few.
