I had a small one for backpacking and it used white gas.
This type might be able to use any kind of fuel.

White gas(basically unleaded without the additives). And yes, they sound like a rocket and pretty much look like one trying to blast it’s way into the ground. You get them started with either some fire starter paste or a small amount of fuel at the base of the stem(there’s a well there for it). Once the stem gets hot crack open the valve and vapor pressure keeps it going. Unlike propane there isn’t enough initial tank pressure to start it. Modern versions come with pumps or have retro fits that replace the tank cap but the simplest old ones are just the tank and the jets.

On a backpack trip from Agnew meadows up to the Minarets my uncles Optimus got a crack at the base of the stem and started a secondary jet. He said “shit” and pitched it out of camp whereupon it blew up a split second later. Test it out in a good location.

It may have generator tubes like old lanterns and stoves but I don’t see any pump.

[Gone] 5100s with 17 sport springs.

    have like 20k on them.

I would recommend only using the fronts and 1 rear. The top but on the other rear was seized and had to be cut off with an angle grinder.

    located in Sacramento.

I have a bunch of free stuff to give away: will post pics tomorrow:

    1. 2019 TRD OR UCAs
    2. Trek Marlin 4 (or i think it’s a 5) mountain bike (needs a new rear duereiller), a little dirty, but a little TLC and it’ll be up and going.
    3. A brownish Ashley Furniture recliner
    4. A whole bunch of other things.

I’m located in Travis AFB (Fairfield, CA)but can meet right outside the base.
