Hello, all. I've been into high end detailing for about a decade now and since I ordered my truck and took delivery at 7 miles with zero dealership washes, I'm excited to do my typical new car prep package to it! I bought the truck almost four hours from home so I spent an hour in the parking lot taping off the front end in blue painters tape to avoid rock chips or pitting on the drive home. Tomorrow, I will be doing my first hand wash of it and decontamination with a clay bar right before a buddy applies Xpel Paint Protection Film (clear bra) to the painted portion of the front bumper, headlights, and painted portion of the side view mirror. I'll top the paint with some NV Car Care Lustre ceramic spray (new to the US market). I'll post some pics in this thread later on tomorrow of the finished product; I'll probably post a lot in this sub-forum as detailing in my hobby/moment of zen.

Why not just ppf the whole front end of the truck?

I considered that but really just wanted to do the vertical upright surfaces that were likely to get rock chips. The truck will get paint corrected and ceramic coated at the end of the month.

Lustre is a phenomenal product. I had it on my previous car and it was the only product I’ve used (I’ve tried all of the big brands over the years) that actually encapsulates the dirt on a car during a rain storm and self cleans.

Is it actually a true spray and wipe?

This was about $500 for the front bumper (painted portion obviously), headlights, and side mirrors (painted portions). Different markets have different prices, of course.

I would say that if you plan on keeping them a while and drive on the highway at least most of the time it's definitely worth it.
