Dats my neck of the woods! Good luck. Lots of rentals probably your best bet for a bit to get the lay of the land and figure out what to do with buying.

Exactly going to rent for prob like a year. @Hiyudurin I know hopefully the market changes or at least the cost of material to build. luckily I bought low in FL and have some equity in my home that im going to sell.

dont expect the market to slow down anytime soon. Also the lumber prices will be elevated until at least next spring, according to my sources (very high volume lumber and wood importers)

Anyone want to go in on buying a hard shell roof top tent from alibaba? It’s almost a 1/3 of the price. Also, looks like dealers buy from these Chinese manufacturers.
Could maybe someone in the area chime in on their experience?

it will be more expensive, trust me. There are “fees” which you will not expect, and don’t forgot the 25% tariff on top of your duties/taxes, single entry bonds, etc etc.

They quoted me 1,500 to my door but I don’t know how much I trust it.

being that it is a Chinese seller, 0% chance. Ask them what the INCO terms are. Feel free to PM me if you decide to go through with it and need some guidance.

Yup they will literally tell you anything to get you on the hook.

not speaking from experience, only YouTube videos where folks get screwed over by some “amazing deal” from China

@Deo taco nice truck! Use to drive to Morehead City to visit Atlantic Beach. Grew up at Cherry Point. I don't have plans to take mine off road, but I throw it in 4WD two to three times a year. When its snowed in the RTP area I've "made trails" in vacant parking lots.

Usually the Chinese seller will pay for it to your door, what they don’t tell you is that you are responsible for all the customs stuff. Being an individual it can get expensive.

Here is what you can expect to pay for customs stuff:

    customs clearance fee: $125
    single entry bonds: $125
    Importer security filing: $40
    Documentation fee: $50
    Taxes:
    MPF: 0.3464% (min $25.67)
HMF: 0.1250% (no min / max)
Duty: last I checked tents were 8% + 25% section 301 (trump) tariff.

    That $1500 tent now costs ~$2400 +/-

I have some stuff that I don’t need. I tried to start a swap thread but it didn’t get much traction. I’m willing to do some trading or will sell the stuff locally, would rather not ship. I’m near Wake Forest. I have a set of McGard wheel locks with key. A set of double cab off road factory floor mats. And I have a Max Trac diff drop kit that’s brand new in the box. I’ll take $20 for the wheel locks, $50 for the floor mats, and $25 for the diff drop kit.

    Alright fellers, need some advice.

I’m wanting to buy an awning for my hunting trailer. It’s just a simple enclosed trailer we’ve outfitted with bunks and cabinets and such.

I have looked online and they are all super expensive. What are the awnings that folks are putting on the side of thier bed racks and/or roof racks and how much do they run? Don’t need anything fancy

There's been a few pop up for sale on secondary market that's where I'd look.

Don’t just limit yourself to off-road sources, something from a popup camp would work as well, and they aren’t as expensive sometimes.

How long (length of trailer) are you looking for ?
