Your right, I did make the decision quickly but everything is falling into place quickly as well... I am sure it will work out plus it's not like I'm committing to staying forever! It's just time for a change, I have lived off the same street my whole life so... time so see somewhere new! :D

Thanks :) I will post tons of pics for sure

Good luck and be careful on your drive. Make sure you stop when you are tired. I've driven cross-country 3 times. From Miami, Florida to San Diego. My best time was 2 and 1/4 days. 1000 miles the first 2 days and the rest on the third day finishing up by 1100. I dont suggest doing that. Have fun and be safe. Lots of pics.

Thanks for the advice!!! I am not going for speed by any means, I plan on taking 5-6 days to get there and being there the weekend before or at least by the 1st... If it takes longer then so be it, I am not going to risk my saftey for an extra day esp. since Im going to be living there... Thats nuts though best I have done is 16hours pretty much straight back from Miami and I caught myself nodding off and had to pull over right after I left because I did not get to sleep the night before I left... Won't be doing that again

Hmmmmm well see $$$$ is really tight since I decided to do this in 2 days and only have 2 weeks to save... How much is CB and what does it take to install it? I may have to look into this, I am sure Aaron knows since he has one.. Maybe I can borrow his since he has that fancy race radio now hehehehe :p

I did CA to MD in 2005 with a friend in 44h. Was planning to take our time but we were trying to beat a storm moving across the country (stuff covered with a tarp in open bed) so we just decided to drive straight. We kept a cooler with redbull and and sodas in the backseat. We made sure to eat well while driving instead of just stopping at fast food joints the entire way. Gives you a good reason to get out and stretch after sitting for so long. Beef jerky is a good snack to keep you awake while driving as well.

:woot: Come visit So Cal! Im not gonna want to drive for a while after all that! Plus im sure Aaron would let you crash on the couch once we get settled :D

Then you're good to go! Best of luck to you.

My cross country journey was Montana to Alaska...2700 miles in 5 days. I was going solo, well my husband (at the time) was in his Taco and I was in my Subie, and I was talking to myself by the end of day 2. I was sooooo bored!! My recommendations...

you have a travel buddy so you're already a step ahead of me! I'm sure you two will be sick of each other by the end of the trip but it will make your friendship stronger in the long run. Just think of the memories and great stories you can share years from now!

Music. Sing along at the top of your lungs. It breaks up the monotony and keeps you awake.

Patience. Always have a 'plan B'. You may not make as much progress as you hope to each day but don't worry, you will get there eventually.

Everything falling into place...reminds me of my trip to and from AK. You've heard the phrase 'hindsight is 20/20, right? Going up to AK was a nightmare. I had one week to pack (yikes), my in-laws who drove down to MT and brought all of our belongings to AK got in 2...yes 2...wrecks on the way. Then it was the middle of summer and it was a really bad year for forest fires. My trip up got delayed twice because the road was closed due to the fires so I was married and living with my parents for 2 months, waiting to get to AK. And that was only half of the drama!

Coming back? Well yes, I was in the process of getting divorced but...I had everything packed in record time, I had a moving company scheduled for my belongings and for my car (I couldn't strand Subie up there ) and I had a job - interviewed over the phone with my current employer and they took me sight unseen! And when I got here I got hte first apartment I looked at and settled into life back in my home state.

I know I was meant to be in MT because everything worked out so well on my return trip, compared to all of the turmoil that surrounded my journey to AK.

So if everything is working out and allowing you to make the move...then its meant to be!

I look forward to hearing about your trip :)
