I want one. But I want the features that come with the automatic (touch less entry, command start, ect) why cannot we get these with the push button? Or why no Pro access cabs? Dammit Toyota see this lol

They’ve been phasing out manuals for the last 20 years, where have you been?

Probably the 4th generation Tacoma will not include a manual option. As it is Toyota is one of the few holdouts.

I’m guessing they will at some point.
If for no other reason than it’s easier to “build” 1 model.
No need to research and design a second model.

I don’t know the sales numbers.
I’m betting the Auto out sells the the manual 4 to 1?

There are some good reasons for some of the feature differences… as discussed here. (do a search!)

maybe not the case with the lack of jbl in manual pro - but hearing the difference, I do prefer the additional storage!

I do not see the appeal of the marketing depts’ push button… what does it do for you?

I tend to always completely agree with @OZ TRD - and this is no different. Touchless entry and push button start has some significant security vulnerabilities. I have keyless on a few vehicle's and I was delighted the Tacoma came with a freaking simple key. Keyless sucks. Dead batteries, RF Lights at gas stations interfering with their operation, building a faraday cage for your key so your car doesn't get stolen.

As far as an access cab Pro. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the access cab looks silly (its visually disproportionate) and very few people buy them anyway because a four-door pickup is, ultimately, more practical. And the difference between a 5' and a 6' bed is inconsequential in the real world. There are very, very few things I can't do with a 5' bed that would require a 6' bed. I've done some really big jobs with my 5' bed and a bed exender with the tailgate open.

    Much less…
Manuals are only some 4% of production - I believe…

More EV's were sold in America last year than Manual Transmissions. And in the truck world, the last two MT's are the Tacoma and the ridiculous Gladiator. Nobody wants MT's, people think they are too hard to drive and think driving in traffic with an MT is too much work. Seriously, people, just put it in first/second gear and idle. If everyone drove and MT, traffic would be better because you wouldn't have all the numpty's romping on the gas and romping on the brake in a desperate, futile attempt to get though traffic faster

    I was way off.
Evidently there’s enough money in them to continue with the option.
IF the Tacoma ever goes particularly hybrid on ALL models, I would think the manual Trans will be dropped.

Hybrid seems to be the going thing now with most manufacturers
After all, the H.P. Numbers alone make it appealing to most. (Even though H.P. don’t mean much)

My uncle is a systems engineer at Toyota. He can't say anything specifically, but he encouraged me to get an MT now. I suspect that means Gen III will be the Last MT. Gen IV will probably have a Hybrid Option, Gen V will probably be EV.

(Way too long - Front half longer than back half).

It’s all personal preference, but saying the access cab isn’t proportionate is silly.

As someone who sleeps in the back of my truck under the canopy top multiple times a year, I will argue a 6' bed (aptly named) is a real advantage.

if i could have a 4-door, 6' bed, with a manual, i'd take it in any color. seriously. this auto-tragic is on a completely different plane of existence than me. i end up using the sport mode half the time just to get it near the gear i want. and then the lurchy shifting action annoys me.

I used to think the DCSB looked so stupid and wanted an ACLB instead (ended up being unable to due to kids). At this point I think I have grown so accustomed to the DCSB that its starting to look "normal" and the better proportioned ACLB is looking "abnormal."

I still like the idea of the DCLB but cant stand how absurdly long it is.

“They” are not phasing out manuals. Buyers are demanding more and more autos. After having a couple of manual trucks, I’ll take an auto anytime.
