For sale is my 1995.5 Toyota Tacoma called Jethro. It's a V6 Single cab 4WD with an E-locker...a true unicorn...er...horse with a horn tied to its head. More on that later.

-Do you like driving something that never gets lost in a parking lot?
-Do you enjoy living in the outdoors?
-Do you want a Jeep, but with a bed and actual reliability?
-Are small cars seen as speedbumps?
-Are you a fan of Radwood colors?

Then I've got the truck for you!

-Legendary 5VZFE 3.4 V6 engine (please read below)
    -5 Speed manual (because #savethemanuals)
-Manual hubs (nothing to break offroad, except the smug looks of a Jeep owner's face.)
-Armored for all that the mall parking lots can throw at you!
    -Steel wheels, because no frills
    -Locking diff

This truck has been a solid companion of mine for over 7 years now, but I wanted a bit more room, and ended up going with a 4 door Tacoma. Truck has made several trips to and from Colorado and even a trip to Moab.

This truck has been built and modified to be an excellent off-road adventure and camping vehicle.

    Some Notes:

-Truck has been V6 swapped around 20k miles ago. Engine, Trans, and Transfercase were all lower mileage. Engine was resealed from the headgaskets up. All factory emissions equipment carried over and the truck has passed emissions in Colorado and Arizona, as the engine was from a 1996. Truck averages 17-18 mpg since the swap.

-There is no rust! Those who know about early Tacoma's should look for this.

-AC blows ice cold, Heater will roast you.

-Truck has a salvage title due to hail in 2010. The entire driver's side has hail dents. The carfax says that the truck was totaled due to "non-collision damage". Truck also has some hail dents on the hood from Colorado (if you know, you know about the summer weather out there).

    Modifications:

    Powertrain-
    -V6 Swapped
    -4.30 gears and E locker out of a 1999 4runner
-Rear axle housing from 2004 Tacoma
    -Deckplate Mod
    -Airaid Intake Piping
    -Rear Diff breather
-Tundra Brakes (199mm) w/ Stainless lines

    Wheels/Tires-
    -17" Steelies from FJ Cruiser
-255/75/17 KM1's from JK Rubicon (around 1/2 tread)

    Exterior-
    -Relentless FAB front bumper
-CBI Bushmaster 1.0 Rear Swing Out
    -Trail Gear Sliders
    -Sky E-Locker Skid Plate
    -Hella (looking) horns
-Canback soft topper (this is the best soft topper you can buy as you can mount tent on top)
-Ski rack (a bit ghetto, but very useful. I had awnings mounted to it once-upon-a-time.)
    -Hilux Snorkel
    -Cam Can
-4runner power mirrors (bigger than stock, unwired but comes with harness)

    Suspension-
-Old Man Emu full kit (2881 springs, nitrochargers, Dakar Springs)
    -SPC upper control arms
    -Poly rack bushings
    -Poly swaybar bushings
-CBI Frame plates (to help with weight of rear swing-out)

    Lighting-
-LED headlights from an XJ Cherokee (night and day difference from sealed beams)
    -LED in bed (un-wired)
    -PIAA fog lights (un-wired)

    Interior-
    -2001 Bucket Seats
    -2001 Door Cards
    -Paracord door handles
    -Pioneer speakers
    -LED dome light

I have a huge pile of spares and extra parts to go with the truck.

    Recent Maintenance:
***all oil changes done with synthetic oil and OEM Toyota Filters

233,700 V6 Swap (engine had 169k). Resealed motor, new belts, new hoses, new clutch, fuel filter, etc.
    236,853 Oil, Filter
    242,079 Oil, Filter
245,489 New OEM lower ball joints, new tie rods
    246,666 OEM spark plugs
    248,692 Oil, Filter
250,202 Coolant flush, new OEM t-stat, new hoses
250,230 New front brakes (whole system), replaced most vacuum lines
    250,270 New PCV valve
250,371 New front and rear diff oil, new OEM bolt. Drivers side front diff seal replaced.
250,938 upgraded aluminum radiator, new hoses, new coolant.
    251,439 new cat converter
251,971 New lower control arm bushings, sway bar bushings and links, transfercase front driveshaft seal
    251,980 alignment
252,991 new fan clutch (oem), cleaned radiator, new coolant
    253,215 oil, filter
    253,603 tire rotation, alignment
253,993 New steering rack, Tie Rods, alignment

Keeping in mind that this is now considered a classic vehicle by the State of Arizona, there are a few issues that one might address:

    -The differentials have small leaks.
-Fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank lower than actual
-Passenger CV axle boots are torn. I have an OEM Toyota re-boot kit for it.
-E Locker is temperamental. May need a new locker motor.
-E brake is weak. Needs the correct cable for the newer rear axle
-Canback is torn in a couple of places.
-There is an exhaust leak somewhere. I have yet to find it.

Overall, this truck has been a friend of mine for the last 7 years. I have had many adventures and memories in this truck, and am hoping the next owner finds the same joy. I am looking for 9200 obo. Vin and 24 pg build thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/jacobrippeys-1995-v6-swapped-tacoma-single-cab-build.464821/) can be provided upon request. Truck also comes with records going back to the 90’s and even the original window sticker. I am not interested in trades, payments, or checks. Cash only.

If I could sell my rock crawler, I'd be buying a plane ticket, flying out and drive this back to the east coast.

Well, when living in Denver, the 4 cyl 3RZ didn't have any cajones. I found a deal on a parts truck with a bad frame. What was cool is that the truck also had features mine didn't, which swapped over also (clock, tilt column, tach, etc.)

I was just reading your build thread a few days ago. I left off where you got it running post swap. It’ll go quick, I’m sure.

I get a lot of questions about the Canback at car shows. It’s a shame that they don’t make them any more.
