    Hey TW,

I need to swap out the clock spring in a "new to me" 2011 TRD OR. No horn and airbag light is on. Steering wheel controls still work, cruise control still works.

After running my VIN on a few toyota dealership pages, it brings up 2 different clock springs with one being a "newer part number" that supersedes the cheaper one (of course...).

My question is, could I get away with using the cheaper OEM part number as it still is being shown for my VIN or do I use the more expensive part number? Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? I called 2 dealerships and they just go based off of what their computer picks out (again, the more expensive version) but not sure if the "old" part number is for vehicles without steering wheel controls or something of the like.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Links below.

First option (cheaper version) - 8430604080

Second option (more expensive) - 843060E010

FYI - neither of these part numbers will have the steering angle sensor from my understanding.

The steering angle sensor is a different part than the Clock Spring and must be moved from the old one to the new replacement spiral cable.

There are two different Spiral Cables for the Tacoma one has steering wheel control wires and the other does not.

If you searched those parts for your VIN either should work.

So if the cheaper option still comes up from VIN search, then it should work?

It should as long as the listing isn't screwed up. What I would do is call the dealer you are buying from and ask if it has steering wheel control support or not and order the one that supports your truck.

It is always a gamble unless you call.
This week I ordered a Rear Spoiler for the wifes Highlander that was supposed to come prepainted Magnetic Grey Metallic Code 1G3. When I got it it was plain black ABS Plastic. Called and was told it no longer comes prepainted I have to have it painted myself. Now I have to pay a 20% restocking fee.

    Call them to make sure.
