No, more like 81 tons of lead is heavier than 15 tons of feathers.

its almost like people are in extreme denial about reality.

The ol adage that “these are not meant to be careers, you work the job and move on to a better one. It’s for high school kids.”

that whole ruse is over now. People are tired of working 2 or 3 of “those” jobs to scratch out an existence.

ETA: when I was a kid, there were a hundred ways to get into the middle class. Now, there are relatively few.

At my own risk for commenting. I don't think there should be a "minimum" wage. I think the job should pay what the job is worth. If it's too low, people shouldn't do it or the job should be automated.

As someone who went to college and worked my butt off to get where I am....which is nowhere near the 1%, but is reasonably above the minimum wage. I see price$ going up which means that my income is going to be worth less tomorrow than it is today. If the minimum wage continues to rise, businesses will have no choice but to increase prices. I have no expectation of a raise to keep me competitively where I am currently....let alone get a pay raise that is significant enough to offset (without moving to another company). So the people who are really going to suffer are the "middle class."

If that's too political, please just delete it and accept my apologies.

    30% = 30%
Share price is entirely irrelevant.(unless you have only a small amount of money and can't access fractional shares).
What's not irrelevant is market cap and I think AMC's market cap is greater than GME now so a 30% swing in AMC would be more significant than a 30% swing in GME.

@CowboyTaco I can't wait till I can make close to what I make now in Healthcare flipping burgers. 0 worries, don't have to deal with anything. I'll be gone like everyone else flipping a burger for the same wage. Sorry if you all need Healthcare workers!

hey man, restaurant workers were just as “essential” as you a year ago.

At least you were risking your life for a livable wage…

:rofl:if you only knew. That junk was TV fake. Here personally, with our whole Healthcare staff, we got paid less to do that junk. Our retirement got cut in half to build a 8 million dollar field hospital that didn't see 1 patient and got torn down 6 weeks later.

What you're talking about is not "getting into middle class". If everyone is "middle class" then you've just eliminated "middle class" as there is no "lower class". The more honest interpretation would be "dragging everyone down to lower class".

The market cap is a derivative of share price. You can't say the share price is irrelevant and then say the market cap is relevant.

you think last year would’ve went better if people didn’t have their creature comforts (toilet paper and takeout food)?

for real, think about that, it would’ve gotten very ugly last year without “Essential” workers of all kinds.

Right, but a company can do a 2to1 split, halving their share price and leaving the market cap untouched. Thus, share price is irrelevant by itself. It only becomes relevant when multiplying it by the number of shares, defining the market cap.

I think you're mistaken by thinking that i only think essential workers were healthcare workers. Not at all. 70% of the working class are essential workers. The only ones that aren't essential are mostly in 2 areas. Hollywood and you know where else.

you may have surmised that you touched a nerve there.

The whole “essential” thing pisses me off big time.

How can we reconcile the fact that gas stations and fast food were essential, when we can’t even pay them a wage they can live on?

I just find it wildly hypocritical as a society.

ETA: took a break from my soapbox to check out my holdings, up 10% today.
I’m immediately cured of my social justice pandering by making money.
    Funny how that works haha
