Just wait until some idiot buys a TRD Pro, puts on an ICON suspension kit and sells these here. Bound to happen.

Dude! You're just describing everyone on TacomaWorld. Take something that functions perfectly fine as-is and replace it with a higher maintenance part.

Pretty sure we're all guilty of this in some fashion or another... doesn't make us idiots.

I'd be willing to bet they will be priced higher than any aftermarket UCA on the market.

To me they look similar to ICON's bullet UCA, but that could be more of styling similarity not performance.

I was referring to just the balljoint and serviceability, not the actual arm, sorry.

If what they’re asking for the Pro fox suspension is any indication. These will probably be a costly upgrade.

I'll just spray paint my SPCs red and save a 1000 bucks all while still being more adjustable.

When Toyota did the Baja in 2012 I didn’t really want the truck, but I really, really wanted the wheels. I searched high and low and couldn’t find a part number. I finally basically guessed it and went to order from my local dealer (since they weren’t listed online anywhere) and he told me they couldn’t order them because they were locked out. Even if I had a police report I could get one. I offered him $100 cash and he declined.

Don’t forget the Pro is now taller than it was in years past. My 3G has the 2G Pro suspension on it (1.5-2” lift) with stock UCAs and the caster is on the low end for a street truck and wanders more than I’d like on the highway sometimes on rutty patches. Nothing Earth-shattering but enough that I can sometimes notice it.

They look near identical, just painted red without the Icon cap over the joint

Before seeing the TRD UCA’s I have thought about getting icon uppers and having them powder coated in red, toyota might have solved that unless they are way too much.

I would be willing to bet they're the same exact arms, just rebranded TRD for Toyota. Probably marked up a good bit too if you buy them from the parts dept.

Screw powder coating... Anodize those bad boys! Anodizing at home is actually a pretty simple process and you can make them ANY color you want. Just watch some Youtube videos.

I HIGHLY doubt it. Even looking at the press release photos, it seems to be a completely different shape than the Icons (count the number of "bends" in the arm). My guess, and it's only a guess, is that it's a Toyota original design. Keep in mind, the only uniqueness is the shape of the aluminum UCA. The ball joint and rubber bushings are most likely the exact same parts from their current setup. It wouldn't be hard for Toyota engineers to CAD up a billet style UCA and have it manufactured in China... like the rest of their parts.
