Haven't tried it yet but it's usually hit or miss on the krinks because of their short gas system. Remember they need a booster to cycle 7n6. Ill let you know how it goes though

When doing a form 1 for an sbr, do you still need to have the lower engraved if you're doing it as a trust? And can the lower be marked multi or does it have to be marked 5.56 or .223?
And I know one of the copies is for the CLEO to sign. Does it get mail to that person and they mail it back to the ATF or do I need to personally get that signed by the CLEO and then send it to the ATF with my other copies.

Must be engraved per ATF guidelines. Multi doesn't matter as on the form 1 you determine the caliber you are registering it with. No that doesn't mean you're stuck with one caliber.

Thanks for the info. I edited my post during your response about the CLEO part too if you have insight on that also.

CLEO does not sign anything. He is notified of your NFA item that's it. You need to see who your CLEO is and mail him a copy. If you have trust your preparer *should* know these questions too.

Here's a great FAQ but he prepares for Texas Gun Trust not GA so confirm with your preparer

Ahh okay. Not sure why I had the impression they had to sign something. Maybe other things I've read online.
    Online as in eform?
Right now I'm just trying to get all the info so I'm prepared for when I want to do it I won't be held up by something b/c I didn't understand what it meant.
Today I spent a while on thetrustshop.net looking at the step by step write up.
Maybe I'm in my own head and making the process much more difficult that it really is.

E-file is way simpler than paper filing. I would do silencershops gun trust and use a kiosk. It's much more user friendly  if you really want to know how there a plenty of places thatll guide you but it's a slippery slope

I would like to do something like the silencershops thing with the kiosk. Thetrustshop sets up the trust for $49 and with that allows you access to their ATF for system that helps you fill out all the applications ($29) just for this if I don't set up the trust with them. I assume that any place I get to set up a trust for me will have some sort of assistance program that will help with the forms.
I read the efile system was even more complicated to get through but took less time for approval so I wasn't sure If I wanted to go that route. Maybe that was just misinformation.

I don't have either so can't speak to them but I have used the kiosks and makes buying a silencer through silencershop so simple.

Between e-file and paper I'd do e-file again. Just have your fingerprint cards ahead of time because once you pay and submit the application you have 10 days to ship them the fingerprints. Very simple with certified mail with tracking.

Back years ago when I SBR two AR lowers, I had to engrave my full name, city, and state on each lower as stated on section 4H on the form 1's

In the past year I SBR a 10/22 and a CZ Scorpion. I had heard the original manufacturers info was good enough, and on the eForm it didn't require any additional info.

I called the ATF and was told you didn't have to engrave anything else on a SBR.

That doesn’t make much sense. How are they supposed to know if it’s an NFA item if it’s not engraved? I would suggest anyone reading this to follow up with an attorney who specializes in NFA trusts and confirm online with the ATF rules. The no engraving thing is a first for me and I would still engrave my lowers. Which I still do.

    Sound advice.

I just talked to someone on the phone, best to have a letter from them backing it up.

One thing I'd like to point out. I've never had a paper or eForm 1 come back due to errors, but if you have ANY error on a form 1 the ATF will bounce it like a bitch.

    Correct?

I'd probably check the ATF handbook (Subsection 6.2.1 specifically) before running with this advice.

Might as well read 478.92 and 479.102

    What's so special about 6.2.1

    Read all of it, LOL.

The last paragraph is arguably the most pertinent to this discussion.

    "identification of the maker....."

The Maker is you. You took a Title I firearm from the manufacturer and MADE it a Title II SBR.

"the marking and identification requirements for a maker are the same as for a manufacturer."

Do it however you like, I'm just telling people to read before making a decision.
