It's been years since I was have been on this forum.

I recently just sold my 18 f150(thanks to the insane car market right now). I needed a cheap vehicle to make my 440 mile per week commute.

For 2800 bucks this is what I got. 99 tacoma sr5t, 4x4, 2.7, 5 speed. 316k miles. The truck runs great clutch is good, ac, heat 4x4 all works.

    The bad..
    It's rough
    Cel light came on
Parking brake light on, no parking brake
    Turn singal bulb out.
Front tires are chopped up on inside (alignment maybe) so 65mph is rough gonna rotate tires this weekend.
Gonna check cell too maybe nothing bad.

Great! Hope you can get it sorted out. I just did the exact same thing. I sold my 2018 Raptor and bought a ‘99 Tacoma.

on the turn signal...mine had a bad switch on the steering column. Left turn signal was intermittent. I got a new one on Amazon for like $40 and only takes about 10 minutes to install.

For the parking break I tightened up the line, your pimpcane should have 13-18 clicks to go full lock IIRC. The light goes on if It doesn’t go back all the way to make contact with the switch in the back, so that switch may be out if you can’t make it turn off by pushing the cane all the way in

The tension on the can def does not feel right. Is the sensor at the back of the cane?

So break light is fixed..but gotta inspect brake cable it has no tension at all, the part that touches the switch was going past the switch

Had a batter terminal loose..had me worried as it didn't start back. Cleared cel thought.

Also how can I figure out if this truck had electric locking rear...there is a switch missing off dash...and there is a ? Where my gear ratio code should be on the sticker

    Any ideas.

Also removed the stupid camo 4x4 stickers

Hope it lasts you more than a solid year, but 22ish thousand miles is a lot of annual which will kill the resale on a newer car, tacoma not so much. You'll be able to sell for the same or more in future!
How's the Raptor to Taco transition? Nothing like a little downsizing to capitalize the market.

After having it for a few days...I'm thinking maybe I can take it to 400k miles and beyond???

That's exactly why I got rid of my truck...the drive was destroying the value of it, and just by chance the way the market is right now the price came up enough for me to get out from under the loan and not be upside down on it.

A lot of people are trading and selling...but I see alot of people getting other newer vehicles...for me..no payments and something older is just fine.

Made my first drive to work with no issues what so ever...put a new bulb in the turn signal and it's not working...now to find and try a new socket.

So far so good. Still getting all the little issues sorted out on the Taco but getting there. I’ve got a 79 Ford F-250 for pulling my tractor and UTV to the hunting land so I just need Taco to get me there with my gear and maybe haul a big buck in the bed if I’m lucky. Taco should be up to the task once I get the suspension updated. A little change going from a 500 hp Raptor to the Taco but I knew that going into it.

Good deal. Hopefully that will fix your issue. Sounds like you are on your way. Be happy about the new steering rack, I just replaced mine and it was quite a pain. Not horrible, but not fun either!

That's an insanely great deal in this market. Those wheels, tires, and tool box are probably worth at least a grand, maybe more.

Thanks, I figured if i don't like it I can unload it here in Alabama around hunting season for 4500 or 5k easy. I really like driving it though.

Gonna go have the CEL checked this morning, maybe even get a cheap scanner from harbor freight just in case.

Might replace the tires...there general grabbers but two are cupped really bad, like ran wrong psi not balanced cupped. I rotated them to the rear and added some air but still has a good shake at 75ish mom and it comes and goes depending on the road.

with as many miles as you drive the cupping will even out on the rear. also Taco's get some shake, it's like a quirk you expect haha :D

Thank you. That's the first thing that comes up when I google.

ECT Sensor...also could be Mass Air flow sensor...and 02 sensor. The truck has a longtube header on it? and something wired into the mass air flow...not sure which to do first lol.

It comes on every 80 miles i guess so far.
