X2! Anyone who has ever run equipment other than cars and pickups should be able to use common sense and take it easy when things are cold...engine parts do expand at different rates, especially when the pistons have 1000 degrees plus on top of them when firing and the block is still at zero or twenty below!

Sorry to post off topic, but, to all of the "warmers" that have posted here, what say ye to the FACT that has been a few ice ages, hence, warming and cooling of the planet, way before Henry Ford invented the Model A. One volcano eruption emits more posionous gases than man ever has. While I'm on my soapbox, the electric car is MORE harmful than a gas burner, if you figure in the process of mining the products used to make the batteries, (don't forget the disposal) the shipping back and forth across the oceans, and don't forget, just cause you plug it up, don't mean no fossil fuels are not being used, ie: coal fired power plants.... give me a break.

i am sure in the year 2027 when the UN's IPCC is telling us all about how global cooling is going to kill us all and how we need to tax richer nations to save the poorer nations from the global deep freeze, we can look back and have a good laugh about global warming.

I agree that ocean plant life contributes to the environment, just as plant life does its vital contribution as well. But you're saying deforestation has no negative effect cuz the oceanic plant life will clean up air pollution? And the jungle is a worthless craphole? It's funny how people think that humans can do no harm to the planet by reckless destruction. It's also funny that people think the planet needs no help by astronauts making an observation & raising awareness of the potential negative effect of such large scale destruction of craphole jungles. Those rain forests that sustain life have been around for millions of years and have their own eco-system that humans benefit from. Most of our "pollution" is plant food? Plant food is biodegradable & goes back into soil to provide nutrients for the plants & animals.

Much of Southern California is a desert. It imports its water in order to thrive. There is & has been a huge battle going on over water rights with neighboring states, which they believe CA is taking more than its fair share for farming. The farming soil no longer has any mineral & nutrients. It is so heavily farmed that the soil is not given a chance to rebuild itself. Its just an empty sponge that needs to be pumped with artificial nutrients & minerals added.

Everyone agree's Greenhouse gases cause global warming. Since the 70's we have known this. Maybe we are helping to speed things up a bit. The largest source of Methane in the U.S. is from beef livestock FARTS not cars. But man has been putting damaging things in the air at a pace that is unsustainable you have to agree. We have to stop doing it at some point, like deficit spending. politic's aside, it's real.

I understand your conserns but I believe that human life is much more importain than anything eles. The jungle is not only some beautiful thing that purifies the air it is also crawling with parasites and pests. I am aware that humans can do "Harm" but the Earth can bounce back from anything. People think just because things are natural they are good. I think if its good for humans its good. But you also must see how hypocritical it is for us to sit back in our developed nation living a life of luxury and tell the poor 3rd world people who are just trying to scratch out a living to not tap into there natural resorces that can and would grow back.. enough rain and sun.. anything will grow. the earth is also full of nutriens just waiting for man to exploit. People think of earth as this perfict natual place but the fact of the matter is that its full of toxic poison, pests and diseases. what kind of soap do you use? did you know that almost 100 percent of the soap sold in the store is made from petrochemicals and salts.. evey time you take a shower or do laundry you are poisening the water. every one is worried about life supporting carbon and the renewable resource the forrest. by the way

Dr. Buzz Aldrin who went to the moon.

    (from WIKI)
    Skepticism of anthropogenic global warming
In 2009, Aldrin said he did no believe humans were causing current climate change: "I think the climate has been changing for billions of years. If it's warming now, it may cool off later. I'm not in favour of just taking short-term isolated situations and depleting our resources to keep our climate just the way it is today. I'm not necessarily of the school that we are causing it all, I think the world is causing it."

LOOK I DON'T KNOW WHAT COLOR THE SKY IS IN THE WORLD THAT SOME OF YOU GUYS LIVE IN, BUT POLLUTION IS NOT PLANT FOOD, ALMOST ALL SOAPS ARE NOT (AT LEAST NOW) MADE FROM PETROCHEMICALS AND SALTS AND RAINFORESTS ARE MOST DEFINITELY NOT CRAPHOLES THAT NEED HUMANS TO CUT THEM DOWN IN ORDER TO HELP THEM. GEEZ I CAN NOT BELIEVE SOME OF THE TOTAL CRAP I AM READING HERE!!! HUMANS ARE MOST DEFINITELY AFFECTING THE ENVIRONMENT WITH ALL THE THINGS WE ARE DOING TO THE PLANET. THAT IS NOT TO SAY CLIMATE CHANGE IS TOTALLY OUR FAULT, IT HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE CYCLICAL AS WELL. SURE VOLCANOES CAN CREATE THE SAME EFFECTS. THE KICKER HERE IS I AM IN FAVOR OF WARMING UP YOUR ENGINE, AND I DON'T WANT AN ELECTRIC CAR FOR MYSELF, (BY THE WAY HAS THE PERSON THAT POSTED THE ELECTRIC CAR CAUSES MORE POLLUTION THAN A GAS BURNER DONE ANY RESEARCH AT ALL, BECAUSE IT IS NOT TRUE). LISTEN IF YOU WANT TO STICK YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND ABOUT HUMANS EFFECT ON THIS EARTH AND YOU BELIEVE "HE WHO USES UP THE MOST RESOURCES BEFORE THEY ARE GONE WINS" IT IS A SAD DAY. I AM NOT SAYING WE ALL GO BACK TO HORSE AND CARRIAGE BUT FINDING WAYS TO LESSEN OUR IMPACT ON OUR ENVIRONMENT WHILE STILL THRIVING CAN BE DONE IF WE PUT OUR MINDS TO IT.

Well, let's take care of earth, rather than hasten its destruction so the "all important human" can continue to live in harmony with earth. I'm not saying be a tree hugger, but total razing of forests is ok with you? Once they're gone, they're gone. It's got to be done selectively so that it can be given a chance to bounce back and wildlife can migrate to & from and redistribute the seedlings. At least the U.S. logging companies, as much destruction that they do, are in agreement with this and practice responsible logging.

BTW, humans are carriers for parasites as well. It's the natural order of life. Earth is a living being. It does have toxic gases & poisons, just as all living beings do, including us.

The soap that drains away is treated & neutralized before release back into the environment. That is the responsible thing to do. Besides, this example is insignificant in comparison.

Do you really believe earth can bounce back from anything? How long do you think it took for these rain forests, for which you describe as "craphole jungles", to grow? How about the CA Redwoods? How old are they? You make it sound like they're gonna grow back overnight.

For the astronauts, it was a simple observation from thousands of miles in space looking back at earth. The deforestation was visible from space. That is large scale destruction! They were shocked & saddened of the reckless destruction created by mankind. They only wish that the rest of mankind had a chance to see it from their perspective. In other words, a picture is worth a thousand words.

It's not about 3rd. world hypocrisy, because weather it was being done here or there, it's still wrong. And complete depletion of those natural resources will have negative effects for many years to come. Not just there, but throughout. It's called collateral damage.

I feel its awfully arrogant of people to think that humans are powerfull enough to influence the climate of a planet.

DID YOU KNOW!......If you took the entire population of the planet, and fit them into one area, they would occupy a space the size of Delaware...giving them i squar yard for each person.

DID YOU KNOW!!!!....The OCEAN spews more polutants into the atmosphere in ONE DAY, than humans do in 20 years???

DID YOU KNOW!!!....that the average human head weighs 8 pounds?

Obviously tongue in cheek, and good point.

You'd have to be a complete imbecile (we know who they are) incapable of processing ALL available information to buy the nonsense that is discharged on that channel.

Sometimes you wonder how they keep a straight face while feeding the mindless such nonsense.

    What pollutants are those?

I feel it's awfully arrogant that people believe they can do no harm to the environment.

This is consistent with my practice and with the advice I've received from every automotive engineer and other experts I've talked to as well as every automobile manual I've read.

As for global warming, I'll go with the overwhelming number of scientists who've studied the issue and agree that industrial pollution has contributed to global warming.

I will not be swayed one whit by those who simply offer their personal opinion and say, 't ain't so.' These folks seem to be motivated by some political ideology and are at best indifferent to facts.

["you're" not "your" as in "You're an idiot."]

I'm always amused by those who call others idiots while demonstrating their illiteracy.

I've lived in the 'North' all my life and have never understood why someone wants to spend a lot of time warming up his engine or scraping ice off his windows, or both, when all he has to do is pour a little warm water on the windshield while the engine runs for 10 to 30 seconds before slowly driving off.

I let mine run 5+ minutes because of the way some of the engines rattled and clattered until oil was flowing good.

As far as man-made global warming goes its a total hoax. The earth has been in a state of fluxuation and will always be. I have no objections for vehicals to be more efficient and pollute less, but I don't want government forcing me to choose some electric car over a hoax.
