I have a 2020 sport. I connected my phone via Bluetooth. Recently I added my wife’s phone. Now whenever we both get in the truck it always connects to her phone. Is there a way to choose which phone connects first? I couldn’t find it in the manual.

Just something to try. I had the same problem with my wife's Avalon. The fix in her situation was to move the default phone (her phone) to the first position on the display. My guess is that on startup, it searches for a phone in the ascending order.

I don't remember the order it is done in. You'll have to try removing and reinstalling one phone at a time to rearrange their order.

Hi. My phone shows first in the list so I thought it would pick it. But it doesn’t. So I may need to delete mine and add it back. But not sure if they show in the order added or alphabetical because mine is alphabetically first too. Thanks.

Had to change the Bluetooth priority on my 2020 SR5 also after adding my wife's phone.

Menu, Setup, Bluetooth, Detailed Settings, Preferred Device Settings, Preferred Phones. Select your phone then Move Up to the top of the list. Worked for me.

Not sure if it is the same or not (I have a 2017) but my significant other has an iPhone and I have an Android. There was an option selected to automatically connect to the iPhone app (or something like that). I unselected that, uninstalled hers, and then reinstalled it (making sure that option was still unchecked) and now it will only connect to hers if hers was the last one connected or I manually select it.

I ended up calling Toyota customer service( ~ 02/2020 ). They didn't have an answer for my '20 Tacoma... We couldn't find any settings to change phone priorities...

The fix: uninstall the phone you always want to link to first, then reinstall the phone you always want to link to first, last...

I would think they could add a feature to change phone priorities in the Entune software...

Changing the "source" all the time is not a convenient solution...

I think Toyota uses "most recent" as their priority and it sorta makes sense. Let's say I only have my phone on the list. In a few years, I get a new phone and add it. Now that phone becomes the priority automatically.

But I don't have that problem because, even though my wife rides in the truck all the time, I have never added her phone. I also never added my phone to her CRV. Why add?

I have more than one phone, and like to listen to the music that is on my phone(s). When in the mountains signal strength becomes an issue. Commercialized radio is a no-go...

Why not just load the same playlist on both phones? Seems like a relatively simple fix if having two phones is causing issues!

Actually not an issue..., I'm just sharing what I have learned and/or done...

Good idea for a music only option...

I'll have to try this on my 2017. My wife and I have identical iPhone 7Plus's. I configured mine to the truck long before I added her phone, but anytime her phone is close enough to connect, it ALWAYS choses hers over mine. Even when my phone was the most recently connected one. Sometimes when I go out to run a local errand and I turn on the Audio in the truck, it will connect to her phone even though her phone is inside the house, and mine is in my DMM phone mount right next to the headunit o_O. First couple times that happened, my wife freaked out, as all of a sudden her phone "lit up" and started playing, and she hadn't touched it

    I stand corrected...

I should have looked to see if software was updated for this..., I hadn't looked since ~ 20/2020... After rereading above post, I went out to the garage and tried it out...

It looks like the software was updated for this... :woot: It also looks like you can separately prioritize phone and/or audio player... :woot:

Thanks boi951, and others for the help...!

Toyota's will always default to newest phone. It's a "convenience" thing for a shared vehicle like a rental, loaner, etc. as most people won't remove their phone's from the settings after they return the vehicle.

But with that, it has already been mentioned that there is a setting and it is easy to customize. The menu of the headunit is complicated to navigate, so that's why it's difficult to find sometimes.

    Boi951,
That worked. Thanks so much. I was looking in the wrong place. I kept checking the phone menu options.
