I'd buy a plug-in hybrid version of the current Ridgeline today, if they made one.

(And keep my gool ol Tacoma for camping trips, of course)

Yeah, this can easily be run alongside a traditional truck as a car replacement for the wife/girlfriend.

My opinion on what they did versus what they should have done: Something truly compact while remaining utilitarian. Not every vehicle needs to be able to hold a family of four...

Ford enters the little pickup truck war with the new hybrid Maverick
    https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/08/success/ford-maverick-little-pickup-truck/index.html

Okay, while I have no major opinion either way, I see this as a win for Tacoma people because it means there is some new activity in this sector that will influence Toyota to do something in response.

    Not sure about what, though.

In TW fashion, all I think about when I see this is "unibody SUV" - so if the Honda Ridgeline is just too big for you, try the Maverick!

It's not a vehicle that current me would want (or need), but I could see 21 year-old me looking hard at a truck like this.

So...discuss. Or not - don't care. Just wanted to share the story.

To me, It looks like it fits into the Honda Ridgeline's segment.

Just Ford putting out their half ass version of a truck to compete with Honda and now Hyundai, meh just let them do their thing. If somebody likes it I guess more power to em.

The front wheel drive and small bed is odd to me. 4.5 foot bed.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
This is pretty cool though and wish more manufacturers would do it:

"Ford will share 3-D printing plans so owners can make their own accessories to fit the slots."

the review actually said the interior has more room than the ranger.

Right? Honda and Hyundai and now Ford just seem to be chopping of the roof to the cargo area of an suv (Pilot, Santa Fe, and probably the Explorer) and giving them a bed

    Like, so many.
What's size difference between this and the Ranger?

With any luck they sell so many they can justify offering an alternative bodystyle, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

They made the right choice with the 4 door in my opinion. This would've flopped harder than a dead dolphin if they chose a smaller cab.

You know that trend of SUVs outselling compact cars? This'll eat into that hard.

Seems odd that they are bringing out a “truck” to compete with the Ranger. Small SUV’s with a bed have been around for a long time but you don’t see many around these days as people figure out that they aren’t very practical.

When your Focus RS runs out of aftermarket parts to bolt on and the wife is tryin to talk you into a Ridgeline, but you realize the discontinued Element would have been a more practical vehicle for the entire family.
