going to put a sticky note on my snackpack from the store tomorrow that says " STOP EATING MY SHIT" bc apparently one of my coworkers thinks it is okay to do it to me twice now ffs

 

Without the bump stops, I’d say most certainly. They’re just using 3/8” plate with some holes punched out.

Bumpstops different story on making them at the house. But again, for rubber stops $130+ is crazy.

5/8 ubolts and extra tall nuts, plates have some fore and aft adjustment built in and the plates are thicker than just about any other kit. They're just overbuilt for the same price as everyone else's thinner shit

 

Well it's a "concoction" really, and a good set is definitely worth the money.

Why do you think Durobump and Timbren is so popular? I run Durobump front/rear on the 4R and they make a huge difference.

 

I should’ve put rubber in quotations. I have durobumps for the front diff. They are nice. A concoction injected into a mold.

I also think they’re so popular because those two companies have the market cornered. Theyre stocked in the most popular stores. This isn’t a bash on their quality at all.

This is more toward the flip kit itself. Anyone who works in the metal industry should see them for what they are. Two small pieces of plate and 4 u bolts.

Anyway, that’s my rant. Either make my own or get to buying, I know lol

 

Having worked in a machine/fab shop, the money on the ubolt plates is in the stamping and the brake bend, you're not going to bend 3/8 at home without a torch or making a whiskey bend, both of which will weaken them

 

Mix in some chocolate mira-lax and re seal it. Problem solved.

 

What happened to the guy making bumps on hear? Did they hold up cause I remember a few people saying theirs tore or they got destroyed.

 

Precisely, with the equipment you can churn out mass quantities daily, especially small parts like that. I’ve worked in a fab shop as well, turning out parts for armored vehicles.

Yes, there’s overhead costs, maintenance, employees to pay, material to buy. But shops generally make a lot off of the small stuff because they can make so many, so quickly.

 

Durobumps. He still makes them he's just not active on TW anymore, he's over on the IFS forum. The original bumps had that issue pretty bad, the newer ones hold up better. But it is a softer compound so I think it's just more likely to tear over time with use/abuse

I did see someone post in another thread their Durobump breaking and making the switch to Timbren.

Was trying to figure out how long he's had them but no reply yet.
