    I wouldn't consider a midsize or compact
Truck or van practical for most tradesmen. There are some comercial applications where a smaller footprint outweighs the full capacity of larger truck.

The compact segment is the economical justification to charge more for a fullsize vehicle.

You are right, we should only expect the worst payload in its class from Toyota and be happy with it....as of right now that applies to the Tundra as well.

a few years ago when ford brought out their commercial mini van ( made cheap as hell n turkey )

it was priced very near the tried /proven full sized van ( don't get 1 unless U need 1 !! )

wasn't close to being the truck nor adequate in purpose

yet near SAME $$$$$ spent = successful marketing !!

I would proffer make correct decisions of purpose & need out of merit

rather than reside in ' buyers remorse "

    dissatisfied...……………………………………. Trade !!! ( usually loosing value )

The MB Sprinter FORCED Ford to introduce the Transit. The Transit is a much better comparison to the E-series, and a much better vehicle. Ford had been making the same Econoline box on wheels for decades with little innovation.

I'm late to the party and certainly don't want this truck, but I would kill for a tiny front wheel drive pickup for a daily driver. Having no weight over the drive wheels kind of sucks for accelerating around corners.

How will this help keep you poor? At least Ford is creating some innovation in the segment. How do you know it is a sh!t product when it hasn't even started production?
The new Ranger trumps the new Tacoma in reliability, so Toyota isn't exactly in a position to cast stones.

I largely grew up in the seattle area, all those subie owning millenial homeowners are my friends

True, but I was referring to the US market. I'd love some of the middle east work truck options.

    Like this one!

Seems to be a common theme in thread - people that would never buy this truck but thinking others will.

By the way, the Maverick isn't tiny - about the same footprint as a 2nd gen Tacoma but lower to the ground.

Newsflash: Truck not marketed or meant for traditional truck buyer isn't found appealing to enthusiast site full of traditional truck buyers.

Have you seen the new Ford Taurus? It's got a standard hybrid drivetrain and Ford clsims it can carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood.

Good on Ford for being innovative. However a naturally aspirated v6 will outlast a boosted 4 banger any day. Using a JD power rating to tout reliability is pretty useless if you know anything about JD power. Companies actually pay money to to receive those “awards”. At the end of the day it’s marketing BS.

Friggin' coolest Taurus they've ever made, brah. Though those V8 SHO's weren't too shabby.

And it gets Ford Focus fuel efficiency!

I mean say this is actually true.
How so? I mean, of course, your going to hear people griping about things here and there, some bigger than others. but what* are some specific examples of this? I have not heard of any catastrophic reliability issue on the taco.

Still projecting demand onto other people. Civic/Corolla buyers didn't choose their cars over SUVs because of the price; they did so because they wanted a small car that's easy to park and nimble in handling.

I just saw front wheel drive and got excited. Nothing else about the truck is special to me.

Leaking rear differentials come to mind and we’ll as CPS shitting the bed. It happened on my 16 but was under warranty and I have since put 100k more on the truck. Considering how many third gens have been sold it seems to be a relatively small issue. For those who don’t know Ford literally uses PLASTIC oil drain plugs on their vehicles. I was a Goodyear tech for 5 years and I would alway laugh when working on them at how cheap some of fords engineering decisions are.
