Yikes! I’ve driven from Madison to Winnipeg in a day several times, but only one way. I can’t even imagine.

Damn! Where in Canada? My record is 1378 miles only stopping for fuel and bathroom breaks. 19 hours was the fastest, 23 hours was worst.

Driving back from the Keys this winter was rough. ~1600 miles. I fished until sunset and drove until 1 Am, them drove from about 5 am until 1am again. That was a haul!

After driving down there a few times, 4-5 hours is nothing.

    Windsor. AKA, East Detroit.

That one really wasn't the worst, I'd say driving from Devil's Tower to StL in one shot (in a f@+_&#-# mini Cooper) was the worst lol.

Oh, that's not as far as I thought. What were you picking up or dropping off?

Ick! Destination wedding? Or do you have family/friends up there?

I had a friend get married an hour from where we all live and was annoyed. I probably wouldn't even go if someone got married 8 hours from where I live.

Not sure where you live. Most things are 2-4 hrs away. If you think the drive to the Pipeline is bad I’m sure the T.W.A.T. run is definitely out.(we usually start in Lansing, Iowa)

    7B371740-2C5C-4130-A6E1-ACB901BD6581.jpg

Add 4-5 hrs on the trail, the Potosi brewery in Potosi, Wisconsin( at least another 1hr) and the ride home from Potosi! It was a 16hr day.

I guess the 2 hr drive doesn’t seem bad since I drive to work every morning.
    1.5 hrs each way. :burnrubber:

Yesterday’s fun filled day….6 customers to deal with. No trip to Canada. No Florida Keys. Just a avg work day at APS!

They do pay all meals and hotel stays. I have a ton of Holiday Inn express free night stays.

18hours??? just a few more than that

Yes! I think you just get accustomed to driving a lot. Adams County seemed like a haul to me in my early 20's. Now, anything under 6 hours or so is easy. And, I actually enjoy the ~1400 mile drive to Pine Island. Except for Chicago and Atlanta.. They suck!

    Your job seems fun. :)

Every weekend it seems like you “head north” for a cup of coffee. Lol
It’s like you have a mailbox in the Nicolet Forest!

That’s why you buy it! To use it. Nothing beats windshield time!

You definitely do. I was driving 4-8+ hours multiple times a week. Now I hardly drive and 2 hours seems super far when I used to drive straight through to New Mexico lol

Was a good buddy from when I was 7. He no longer lives in Detroit and it was a hell of an experience. But I do love some good windshield time

Why not stay the night in a hotel, though?

I probably would go in that situation, too. I just hear about people doing those destination weddings and think I wouldn't make people travel to attend my wedding. If your buddy moved, that's a little different

Careful about thinking it’s just friends. You gotta watch out for family members with their Destination Wedding.

My Stepson got married on the beach at Treasure Island, Florida. It was the bride’s dream wedding.

    3 Airline tickets :spending:
    4 days (minimum) beach condo:spending:
    4 day rental car:spending:

And Since we were already forced to go to Florida my wife said let’s stay a few extra days and see some sights on the other side of Florida.

    3 more days with a rental car:spending:

3 more days near Kennedy space center :spending:

3 adult admissions to Universal Studios:spending:

Harry Potter stuff that my daughter had to have from universal .

I live near Lake Geneva. I think everyone is misunderstanding what I’m saying. I’m not saying it is that long of a drive just with 7 hrs on the road doesn’t leave much time for the trails if trying to do it in one day. When I once had my suburban with a 44 gallon tank I drove to Hayward without stopping once. Probably a record time! I have to drive up to Green Bay Area quite often. But it’s for work so I’m getting paid.

Oh, yeah. It makes for a long day if you want to get in a decent amount of trail time.

There are tons of places to camp nearby, and reasonably priced hotels if you prefer. Spending a night or two makes it much more relaxed.

Aside from trails, there are a lot of places to fish, paddle, ride bicycle, etc in the area as well. Make a weekend out of it. :)
