If you’ve got your bed off it’s worth the time.

Sounds good, the bed is easy enough to take off for a project like this. I'm looking to spend 2021-22 getting skinny on the truck -- I've got a lot of weight there that isn't doing anything helpful.

    Thanks for the info.

I would definitely do it. When I went to do mine I noticed my frame was a little twisted and I don’t think I was beating on my truck too hard before.

It's well worth it. I also took the extra 20 mins to remove the evap system and gas tank to make it even easier to plate. I made all my own frame plates.

Well they’re gonna be thoroughly disappointed still when they continue to not take the time and effort for tuning. I mean I’m going on 3 years of playing around with things to make it work good.

I don’t see how anyone could argue boxing the frame, other than cost. It’s adds rigidity and strength to the foundation.

it’s not for everyone but if you can afford it, especially if your truck is on the heavier side, then IMO it’s a no brainer.

FYI, the DMZ kit goes all the way up the frame to the crossmember under the cab. It’s a pretty thorough and very well designed kit. JD does have the gas tank coming out that also boxes the frame though since you’re a JD guy.

JD Fab will have frame plate templates for the full length of the C channel frame sections soon. Will be starting my frame in a few weeks.

Ain't that the fucking truth!!!! Mine is is set up more for crawling and I've ilready got plans on getting it lower, different shackles, leafs, front pivot location, etc. Every itteration is a learning experience and working every little bit out you don't like.or tweaks to.make.it a tad better

Good to see Harry and JDF are continuing their interest in the contents of my bank account

I considered that, I'll plan on picking that or the DMZ kit up sometime soon.

Okay i'll be the neysayer on boxing the frame. You'll get much more stiffness by improving the crossmembers with tubing and some triangulation first or doing both that and boxing the frame. It's a ladder frame, if you box the frame it's still just a stiff ladder with rungs that are flimsy as hell. At least for the very back section where the spare is, middle ain't so bad where there's decent crossmembers. Either way both would be best

Most guys box in and install custom cross members - the c channel is essentially 1/8 and flexes under weight.

Boxing the frame with some cross-bracing though? I'm planning on doing at least a brace between the rear hangers, probably swapping the factory spare hanger for a better cross brace/storage area.

Was just under my truck and noticed both my inner cv boots have small tears in them. I remember seeing something about a better after market cv boot was just wondering what everyone is using
