Hopefully it’s like in my county, when I found some of my stolen stuff at a scrap yard, they had surveillance footage of the truck that dropped it off, copies of the scrappers licenses, and even fingerprints. Made it real easy to track them down. Got my stuff back for scrap value.
(Super chargers, aluminum heads, alloy wheels) the funny thing was I was getting ready to sell the stuff at the time so I had detailed photos of it all in my shop.

The local scrap yard makes it tough to sell stuff. I carried a load of stuff from here at the shop a couple years ago and there were some old fixtures we didn't use anymore in with it. I had to come back to the shop and get a letter typed up and signed from my boss man saying I had permission to sell it.

There is also a small place that has opened up near us that buys old cell phones and convertors, etc. They have cameras and stuff too. Hopefully they can find out who it is.

That’s good that places have systems like that in place. Makes it harder for the average Joe to legitimately scrap stuff, but what you going to do?:notsure:

Called the Police early one Sunday Mornin’ couple years back. Seems some of the local lads gained access to a supply trailer. Was a parade of shiny copper coils heading to the scrap yard down the way. They sent a waggon. Maybe two with that haul. Got it all back ‘couple days later.

Used to work for a machine shop in SoCal. Every once in a while, we'd have a huge block of some exotic metal go missing from our inventory yard.

We'd get a call from the local scrap dealer to come get our ingot of incolnel or titanium or whatnot and the cops already had the "suspect" in the back of their car.

Yeah, the exotic metals stuff would be super profitable except that it sticks out like a sore thumb. Inventory on a Chemical Plant job wasn’t right. Didn’t take long to get live footage of the stores guy throwing $600 flanges over the fence & his wife pickin’ it up. Tag team duo. Hope they got adjoining cells.

Yeah, there was a few times the dealer was like "I knew he was guilty cuz he didn't know what it was and now that you tell me, I'd never even heard of that stuff"

I took one of the valves apart and cleared the gunk out. The coolant/cutting oil flows smoother now, not wearing any and decided to wear a face shield too (technically a requirement due to grinding anyway).20210609_080414.jpg

A 4 engine propeller plane? Must be a story, I don't believe they were built after the late 1950's.

I looked up the price of a new 2.875" drill was $1,400.00. I need to spend a little more time on this one. At the very tip which won't do any cutting anyway, you can see where this drill was previously sharpened incorrectly. When I first turned it 180 degrees to do the other side it was so much longer...sheesh, regroup on this thing. After I'm finished, I'll take a small stone and slightly dull the edges. It makes them less grabby and prone to chip. 20210609_085737.jpg

Nice grind! How big of drill bit can you sharpen with that machine?

There’s two flyby’s every day. There rescue Hurc’s from 17 wing. I can almost set my watch to ‘em. Mosquito choppers likely start up next week. :)
