Just a quick roadtrip back to CA for my nieces 18th/graduation party and hopping into a camping trip at the same time. We're finishing up the week visiting with friends and fam, and swapping out some Drifter bits before we head back this weekend.

Excellent picture by the way. I was bummed not to get a photo of this patch of orange and purple flowers I had swam out to, but I didn't have a camera on me at the time :(

    Thanks :hattip:

Also got a cool picture of a plane flying over which is pretty rare for this area.

She's right. Florida is too goddamm hot. But for me anything past 80 is just "hot as hell"

Want to go home via S.E. Nebraska? I have three that need done. I was thinking about just dropping them off at the local hardware store. My wife does a better job than me at those screen replacements

    How's your guest room? :D

I had never done it before but a quick youtube video and about a half hour later and it was all done and surprisingly easy. Should have bought the 100' roll because I've got a feeling I'm gonna need it once we get back. I washed all our screens before putting them back for the season but boy was it not enough. They just need full replacements and I was just wasting time on a bandaid.

Haha, guest room not bad and complete with bathroom and shower.
I have a very large roll of that screen, and like you just washed them, usually every spring. Thing is now the back patio sliding screen door is a little tore up from the neighborhood cats that want inside now. Little buggers...

I believe whoever pieced together the video with the soundtrack labeled it as such since it contains shots of NYC rather than Miami.

I'd much rather live in Miami than NYC, and I doubt the 3-week stay in NYC that is coming up next week is going to change my mind about that.

There were a couple of episodes of them being in NYC but it's a bit lame for someone to make a claim of a New York Version, it's not even a remix...

Yeah, ours at home got fixed with a little duct tape after we moved in :anonymous: previous owners had "fixed it" for what lasted a whole 2 seconds.

Our screen door actually needs fully replaced and we bought a replacement a while back, but big shocker it didn't fit and we found more quirkiness with the door  We plan on replacing the entire slider at some point probably, so I wasn't hugely worried about it but since our friend needed his mesh replaced I figured I would use it as an excuse to buy everything. I'll fix ours at home once we get back, even if it's just till we scrap the whole thing.

I don't want to live long-term in Florida. My ultimate goal is to buy a catamaran (plan is in 5 years) and circumnavigate with an HS friend of mine. We plan on making one homebase at Guam, she was stationed there and knows the area. They have a VA there both of us can use, and you can own firearms as well. Once underway, I don't expect to back in the US for many years, except maybe for a quick visit with the family.

Raynaud's is an issue for me and unfortunately can no longer tolerate the cold winters. I used to enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, camping, etc but when your fingers turn cold and numb, you can even operate a zipper or a lighter, it becomes a safety issue along with being uncomfortable. I like the sun, which is something you don't see often in many Vermont winters. Winters tend to be long, cold, and fucking depressing as hell.

I have raynaud's as well. I keep gloves and hand warmers in our gear amongst other things and in the winter I have to put a steering wheel cover on in my truck otherwise I'm just fucked the second I touch it. It's no fun. I can imagine not many people would want to put up with it and enjoy the cold but I'm just weird like that. I love the rain and snow and untill I lose an appendage I'm unlikely to change my ways lol.

I tried the disposable hand warmers but they never got hot enough to make a difference. The solid fuel and butane warmers work fairly well, despite the odor and potential mess. Electric gloves were on the shopping list but moving to FL helped scratch them off the list.

Hunting is another thing I miss, even on those cool mornings that most likely were a bit misty than snowy.

Oh well, there are plenty of things for me to do near, on, or in the water.

Always a good thing to have. Learned that lesson after we got about a foot and the temp was well below freezing and I had to dig out the truck. Now I keep warm gloves, multiple scrapers, an extra jacket/windbreaker and a pair of winter boots in the back seat

I have USB rechargeable hand warmers. Best thing ever!

Also going to be putting a diesel heater in our Drifter once we pick one out, so I'll have some reprieve from the cold when I need it.
