@TacooSaucee we are all knowing, all seeing.

i assume you decided against it since you realized they were nerf bars and not sliders?

    Shhhhh.....

I am actually still considering it, 1/6th the price is very tempting. I think they will help my flying-rocks dilemma and it's a relatively cheap option to try. I don't do heavy off-roading for it to matter much. As long as they are fairly tight to the cab and not old-man low.

This picture from an Amazon review gives me hope

Finally had a couple hours to myself... finally I think most of the parts I'll need are in...

Got a little more done with the on-board air and horn system....
mounted the manifold and finished and mounted the brackets to hold this beast of a horn...

Now waiting for paint on some fittings to dry and to find my teflon tape... and I can start plumbing the hard lines...

Then to figure out where to mount the air tank... and collect a couple more parts for the tire inflator hookup(s)

Where ever you mount the air tank be sure you have easy access to the fittings. Mine was mounted in my cap and the amount of corrosion from moisture build up in the tank was crazy. Changed fittings and what not because of it. Plus you want to be able to drain in consistently.

I also always had the tank valve opened to drain it. Used a on/off valance to separate the tank from the lockers in case of issues. Could also cut off the air compressor if I needed to pressurize the tank to power the lockers (have a spare portable compressor on board for built in redundancies).

Got out last weekend and was able to run Ardbeg south all the way out to the power station and with some heavy use of my sliders and IFS skid I was able to complete the trail for the first time! Unfortunately after the trip my phone decided it was done with this world and crapped out so I lost a lot of photos:facepalm:
The trail is really dry right now and only had one sketchy mud spot that required a bit of send. Even got to pull out my first Jeep! Definitely gonna want some more armour before I give it another go but man was it a blast!

I'm looking for a 265/70/17 spare tire set up....I think a 265/75/16 will work as well. My stock spare is under the truck need a bigger one for my other set up. That'll learn me for not buying 5 tires! Especially at the price I got these M/T's for.
@Saturnine be the smart man on that one!

Lol well I got enough of the hard lines done to test it out...
Still have to wire in the solenoid to the SPOD controller....
And trace down a minor air leak... mount the air tank ,regulator and fitting for the air chuck...

Used a 9v battery to activate the solenoid... and gave it a quick Tap.

Sweet Jesus my ears are ringing... just from 2 short quick blasts.

Sounds like a Ship or VERY BIG truck.

    I got a Viar 1gal tank, it has 4 ports on it. Top/ bottom/front/back.
Got that one specifically for all those ports in different directions to hopefully make it easier to find a mounting with one port facing down to drain. (fingers crossed)

I was originally hoping to mount it where the manifold is now (I'll take pics tomorrow) and use the 4 ports from it instead of using a manifold.
But I didn't find a "happy spot" for it either getting in the way of the horn, blocking too much of the rad, or would be a bitch to route lines to.
May see if I can make another custom bracket to get it to sit nicely there we'll see.

I may add a water separator after the first 40" of 3/8 copper hard tubing coming from the compressor.

Still not 100% sure where I'm going to mount the tank yet, but I'm sure I'll need some more fittings and brackets to make...
but I have a manual drain for it if it's easily accessible or another 12V solenoid if it's not.

Man this would be so much quicker if I could just walk in to Princess Auto or a Supply house and just grab what I need when I need it.

Cause you never know what you need 'till you don't have it.

From testing today though I really don't need a 1 Gal tank if I just want a quick 2-3 second "come to Jesus" blast.
The tank in theory will give the horn a 15-20 second "you better be wearing your brown pants" blast.

Lol since I have another spare air solenoid I *could* set it up with the air horn connected with the regular horn so it would be a short blast when I hit the regular horn.
But connect the tank from the another solenoid so when I hit the air horn button it activates the tank and air horn at a much higher and longer blast.

Lol this is turning into more work than I thought it was gonna be. Still have to paint all the brass and copper fittings and lines black.

It's the same engine as the LS500, actually 3.4L: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Dynamic_Force_engine#V35A-FTS

(The 4.6L V8 in the LS460 in 2007-2017 was the same engine used in the Tundra and GX460, just without direct injection, so there's precedent there.)

Meso installing LS500 injectors in his 3rd gen Taco as part of the OrangeVirus twin turbo kit: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...n-turbo-systems.566390/page-457#post-24100902
