Maybe it says SRS so you know not to bolt handles on there. Maybe the handles could interfere with airbag deployment. I have these bolt covers on my access cab.

Looks like it is a headliner/airbag anchor of some sort.

I am sure you guys are correct. I am sure Toyota just spent the extra money to get these boxes imprinted with SRS to add flavor to internet forums.

CORRECT, there is not an airbag in the box. There is a bolt. Any chance the bolt helps hold the airbag system in place when it explodes? Maybe not.

What I do know is that manufactures generally don't bother putting bolts and bolt covers on vehicles for no good reason. So the "it's just a bolt cover" smartass crowd isn't really being very helpful. Yes, it is a bolt cover with a bolt under it. Now if you don't know for certainty why the hell Toyota went to the trouble of placing it there, sit back and wait until someone with helpful information shows up.

Very well put! I totally agree. In my previous posts, I never stated there was an air bag inside the small cover !!! I think people are not understanding that. However, rest assured, that hardware is part of the airbag system in some way. As you so accurately stated, Toyota would not go to the trouble and expense to mark it in this fashion if it was not important to bring attention to it. The bolt may be something as simple as an airbag attach point or grounding lug, sensor attach, etc. etc. But you can bank on it relating to the SRS in some way!

Just a guess. In the airbag video, it looks like the curtain breaks through the headliner all the way front to back, just below the bolt cap. Maybe this bolt cap holds the headliner in place so airbag has to bust through instead of just pushing headliner down. Just a guess.

Yo not to bag on you, but no one has a definitive answer, my point as well as many other here was that with all the resources AVAILABLE, internet, books, tvs, cel phones, phone, directory assistance, toyota help line, whatever the th fuck, the masses of slow folks is amazing to those of us that know.

So not pointing a finger at anyone, but GOOGLE it! I bet you will get a link back to this site for all the times someone has asked about the 'LITTLE BOXES ON MY TRUCK!"

AND APPARENTLY NO ONE HAS YET TO ANSWER THE QUESTION TO YOUR LIKING. SORRY

HERE IS THE ANSWER! IT IS A BOLT THAT WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SRS AND HOLD PARTS IN PLACE.

THOSE WHO HAVE THE ONE'S WITH SRS STAMPED ON IT ARE PROBABLY THOSE EARLY MODELS WHERE THE SRS SYSTEM WAS NOT NOTED...

^^^^^Why would you bother to post this, when it was not useful at all? Anyway, my thoughts on the box are that it holds the headliner in the event the air bags pop out. So the whole headliner doesn't come down on you. I don't think its an oh shit handle mount for one its only one mounting point, and 2 there is already a handle on the pillar by the windsheild. My guess FWIW.
Edit: Never mind, I see you updated it. But the 1st post before edit didn't make sence.

...the point is pointless as is this thread.

Nobody had a answer and no one would look the frigging thing up.

Here is a site full of information and enthusiasts, and not a single person had the gumption to look it up.

Took me 4 minutes. Three pages, and not one person could look it up?

Come on! WE ARE BETTER THEN THAT.

We are friggin TACO owners, not Nissan onwers

But then again, what the hell do I know.
