Yep Saab. They were used in air combat training as dissimilar aircraft. Pretty cool and capable aircraft in their day.

Didn't Spaceship One have two sets of wings? Or maybe really big canards on the two fuselages.

Also, I miss Edwards. The airshows I went to there were kickass. Nellis' was also pretty good.

Kind of canard wings. Unique, and clever as hell.

If you’re into building paper models and have some 110# card stock laying around, this is a good looking model to build. And it’s free!

Plus, there’s a link to the free White Knight carrier.

Damn that brings back memories. Used to have picnics with the family under the wing of the B-52 there.

Also met one of the first (if not first) F-22 test pilots there. Got his autograph on a poster. Good inspiration for my early days.

    87 fuel added as needed.
Anyone have any input on some fighters operating out of KIND today? 1030-1130 timeframe. Think they were FA-18s...maybe westbound after NY airshow?

Another stormy day in Dallas and my Tacoma is still packed from memorial weekend camping. Most of the jets were out flying so I got to park in the hangar to keep it dry

There’s an AME renting the hangar at the next door neighbours. Normally, it’s an assortment of privately owned float planes. The usual assortment of Cubs through Cessna 180’s. He’s been doing an inspection on this for the last week or so. Didn’t capture the arrival, but got a couple of pictures from the test flights and departure today. 74ED0DE5-8D7C-45A4-9C57-04CCFC7962D0.jpg BD55CC5E-6845-419D-A82A-838C97D759D4.jpg 38659A2C-7933-4864-86F0-3636D260714C.jpg FB4FD949-77BE-4B52-92D0-D047A4B4D694.jpg

I've made friends with one of the local heliski outfits and got to ride in the back of the A-star a few times. Holy hell are those things fun! Esp when there aren't paying clients in the back so the pilot will take the gloves off. :D

I was doing the walk around on a Piper Tomahawk for a DOT instructor test flight. Found the prop in this condition. Passed the test in another plane, didn't fly afterwards. Young and foolish.

That must result in damage to the prop control system and the engine.

We had one like this come in when I was in A&P school and it was full tear downs on both, I know the frame was gone through and various other crap I cant remember (I was only doing the powerplant part). Expensive landing.

Looks like a Cessna 402C. I've got a couple thousand hours in the B's and C's. Mostly C though. Never had the gear fail to extend, or stay locked once down. Had it fail to stay retracted a couple of times. Broken uplock. The gear would fall, hit the retract limit switch, fire up the hydraulic pump, and retract it again, and again, and again. Took a few seconds to figure out what the banging was the first time it happened. And we all know that a few seconds in pilot speak probably means a few more seconds than just a few seconds. Anyhow, I was on top of it right away the second time it happened. I really disliked that airplane at the time. Especially when I was also typed on the King Air, which was soooo much nicer to fly. But it was a pretty fun time in my life and career, so time has softened my feelings towards it.
