Perfect example of if most goalies do that, they get killed over it. But his team in front of him is an absolute unit and it let's him get away with it. He had a game in 1st round where he faced 15 shots and lost and another with same shot total and almost lost. But the media and Pittsburgh have him on this platform as an untouchable figure. It's very annoying. I love Flower, but it just is annoying that he is the savior, when he is certainly benefitting from a monster team that can gloss over his mistakes. You have these other guys who get killed by media/fans on goals that they let in ..example- Varlomov on the Marchand goal in OT a few games back. Chances are that shot comes nearside or he holds the puck and carries it low. Goes down into RVH position and Marchand snipes far corner. Tough read for a goalie and Varly got murdered over it by tv crew and fans. Such a joke.

Same. It's almost as-if Tampa added like 18mil worth of players, over the Cap or something...oh wait, they did. lol

But I agree, Carolina is tough this year and it might sound weird to say but the series was maybe a little closer than 4-1 seems like it would be. But that's a solid team and they are right there, moving forward.

 

Canes didn’t lose due to lack of skill and effort that’s for sure. They had a couple of players out with injuries that they just got back the last game but that wasn’t the real story either. I think the Canes were just out-coached, TB had their play solved and Canes never really adjusted.

 

Don’t hate the team, hate the league. Tampa didn’t break any rules with the salary cap.

No, they played within the lines. That being said you can bet if they repeat the league will make changes for 2021/2022. It was one thing when the Hawks burried one player and he was actually hurt. Kuch was clearly GTG for at least a month and held back to make the cap, same with other players.

 

He came out F'n hopping, bro. He was in prime form in his first game lol. Was hilarious. But you are right, the league probably gotta look at that.

As it turns out, a 7-1 game one victory means nothing. That’s 1 win in a 7 game series, the score is irrelevant.
Hopefully the next 2 series will be just as enjoyable.

 

These playoffs have reinvigorated my love for the sport.

That 6 point loss was the best thing to happen to VGK... it gave them their mojo back.

 

3 Conference Finals in their first 4 years of existence lol. I sorta hate Vegas. Possibly 2 Finals appearances in that time, if they can win this next series. I don't know who is more guilty, the NHL for how they did expansion for them and the GMs for how they handled it lol. Just crazy when you have teams who are legit building with top guys, for years (Leafs, Oil, Avs) and they can't even sniff that type of success. Is what it is. I like them, but it's just wild that they are so dominant, basically from day 1.

 

On the other hand, other than the Lightning, what other team is going to draw the interest of many fans in the U.S.? An Islanders-Habs final will be a snooze fest on this side of the border. I am pulling for Vegas because of the Flower. Cue up the nay sayers.

 

To some degree the NHL is guilty not just because of the recent expansion rules. That's understandable, as they wish for a new market to have an interested fan base from the start. Consider this as well: During the regular season the games are typically by the book and the teams with stars do well. In the playoffs, it's a free for all. Outside of Tampa, what star is left to watch for the fan who enjoys actual skilled hockey plays or the casual fan or the burgeoning fan the NHL is trying to draw? And in defense of Vegas, their team has been retooled since its inception year and they have made many of the right moves since then. Look at teams like Chicago, St. Louis, San Jose, Pittsburgh and others over the last 4 years and see how well they have played their roster since then.
