If the modified tundra rack blows, can't you just replace it with the tacoma rack you pulled out temporarily? Or, are there modifications made to accommodate the tundra rack that would prevent reinstallation of a tacoma rack?

Looking at both options. I want the JDF option, but don't weld (beyond simple stuff like a CMC) so money (i.e. labor costs) is a big variable for me.

    A thing or two...
To install the tundra rack, you cut out the Tacoma mount points and re-weld them to match the tundra rack.

Plus you modify the sector shaft to make it shorter to fit the tundra rack...so even if you could get the tacoma rack back in you need a stock sector shaft to install also.

I talked to JD Fab on the phone and he pretty much said you would have to bring your truck to his shop to install the slide rack. Which is understandable.
I'm almost finished installing the tundra rack from basikbiker, along with heimed chromoly tie rods. I highly doubt the tundra rack will ever break. I've beat the hell out of my truck for years and never even had a problem with the stock tacoma rack - just replacing it as a preventative measure.

All depends on your ability and access to tools and space and comfort level cutting up important components of your truck. I did both the JD fab LCA pivot kit and slide rack in my garage. But it all wouldn’t be possible without @Yotamac from tacomapros coming out and doing all the welding for me.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. Trying to weigh my options -- it looks like both are not "designed" for the 3rd gen, so that should be fun to fit as needed.

Taking a break from doing this stuff...rack cores are getting harder to get right now and I dont have enough time to do this and other projects that I'm working on.

Thanks to whoever the dongbag was that banned me...could of just deleted the comment and sent me a message....instead its been a pain in the but trying to get back to people about current orders. Way to go...ill be deleting a bunch of info on the long travel stuff as well...honestly figure it out like I did stop asking for a "hook up" I have spent more than alot of time figuring these things out and you should too if your interested in it..

I will not be accepting orders for at least two months from now...its a busy fire year and I got more important things to do.
    Thanks
    Travis
