Just got 2011 tacoma. I started engine to warm it up, took the auto lock opener off the key ring and tried to lock the vehicle from the outside but lock or unlock would not work. Any help appreciated. Greg

If you have a remote starter, you can run the truck with the doors locked

Auto lock doesn't work with a key in ignition. You can manually lock the door with another key.

Thanks people. Just thought there might be a code or something to over ride this instead of carrying a second key. One other thing. Am i correct when the A-trac light is on, it is disabled?

Don't know about Atrac. Get a flat (non-chipped) key made and keep it in your wallet. It won't crank the truck but will open the door. One of those better to have it and not need it things.

For locking your keys in your car you get a ticket?

No. just sitting and running; doesn't matter if keys are in and locked or keys not in and locked.

That's correct. Whenever it gets cold enough for people to do that, the radio stations are always getting calls about stolen vehicles. I can't lock the doors on my 04 either when it's running (tried remote, extra key from outside & manually pushing the button down).

Your not; that was the original question. Short answer is yes.

Colorado figures that they spend to much time and money chasing down oportunistic criminals and cleaning up the mess they leave behind when the drive the thing into a grocery store during the chase.

Also, it mucks up the air in the winter when the air is not moving much.

I can NOT manually lock the truck ('05,crew cab, TRD, tow) door from outside with a key in the ignition, wont happen.

Greg Muncy, you ever work for the DOI? In CO?

This is what should happen when you leave car/truck unattended and running locked or not and it gets stolen.

    CALLER: Hello, police dept?
POLICE: Yes, how can I help you?
CALLER: Someone just stole my car.
POLICE: That's not good. What happened?
CALLER: I left it running in the driveway so it could warm up. It's cold outside.
    POLICE: "click"
