So yesterday I changed out the TB on my son's 4runner, solved the high idel issue he's been having. Got the front up on jack stands and lubed the upper control arms ,,made sure as many of the motor mount bolts that I could reach were still tight. Power washed the front suspension and washed/foamed the rest of the truck while I was at it . Here it is all gussied up.20210609_011921.jpg
Today's plan is to drain the rear. Will be interested in seeing how many partials will be in the oil. The new gears were given a REM polishing before installation.
Then hopefully get it all packed up to go play!

What is the condition of the belt itself?
I'd assume you either pick between a harder material pulley , replace more belts, or a softer pulley (also lighter ) and replace more of them.

It took about 6 weeks or so to get my ceiling panel. They are super slow and not good at responses/communication. He has the corner on the market for first gens so we are kinda stuck with the poor communication. Ceiling panel is awesome though so probably worth it….. maybe?

I need to install a winch but it won’t fit between the frame rails and the grille. Any suggestions? I’m thinking cut into the frame rails to make space

Na. Takes a solid 2-3 years for the rust to start getting to the surface rust level here. 6-8 years is when the scale gets bad. Around 10-12 is when holes start

    and that’s on unmaintained daily’s.
Trucks that are truely abused this happens faster

Chevies? Fords? Chrysler’s? This is normal on those junks.

hell the 06 corolla did nt have much rust and it had 14 years and 880k miles of zero cleaning! The body was pretty clean other than the spot right under the gas door starting to bubble up

LOL that’s normal yea. Nissans typically have a hole in the floor by 3 years old.

honestly out of all the Japanese cars, nissans are the only ones I know that still have rotten out floor boards within a decade of them being out here. (Their subframes are made of the shittiest steel too.)

I remember when I visited my home town in New England after about 8 years of being out west and seeing otherwise modern looking cars with rocker panels, fenders, and doors with holes rusted in them. Looked straight out of a dystopian movie where they were trying to make new cars look old - couldn’t believe it.

The American cars have serious body rust issues (and frame) but Toyota gets the short end of the stick and has to fix their frames. Lol bonus for me. But my buddies 2012 f150 split in half on the highway. Ford told him to pound sand at 84k miles. (Just like they did to
Me with my mother’s flex water pump taking a shit just outside of warranty)

Yeah I remember specifically it was a Ford Taurus (jelly bean gen) with a huge rust hole in the door that made me feel like I was in a parallel universe as it was only like 6-7 years old.
