Toyota TRD OEM lift kit

Is there an aftermarket version of this part available or is it not completely necessary? All I got was the shocks and they don’t come with those.

 

Seems to not be completely necessary, a lot of owners say they just cut of the bracket but if Toyota found a need it then I kinda want it. I found it online and the local dealership said I could order it outside of the kit but he couldn’t confirm if the price he gave me was for one side or both.

So far after 9K, Several off road excursions and, Several Camping/towing my TT including Grand Canyon trip, Have had zero issues with my taco and TRD Toyota lift.

 

That’s probably the most miles anyone has put on the kit.

 

I got a quote from Beaver Toyota in Cumming GA for $2200 OTD including tax. Kit and labor.

 

Toyota’s press release on the lift kit stated “4-5 hours” of labor. The dealer that installed mine charged 5 hours for labor for an out the door price of $2200 (included an alignment). Labor alone was $800 - remainder was the parts. I think Toyota’s estimate on labor hours is pretty close and should be used for the installation labor costs.

 

On a side note…$2200 was the original estimate. Half way through the job he called and asked what he quoted me and said he thought he quoted $4100. I said the initial quote was $2200 and he honored it. If he tried to stick with the $4100 that he thought he quoted I was going to have them remove it return it to stock.

Definitely worth the spend, factory warranty a bonus on new orders.

 

Thats ridiculous. A dealer in my area is selling the whole lift package for under $1100. If u add the 4-5 hours labor toyota claims for install that totals around $1600.

 

$1600 is the cheapest I’ve seen. My dealer’s labor rate is $150/hr. That brings a five hour install to $750. I think I paid $1450 after tax for the lift package.

 

Really depends on the area. The lowest dealership for me charged $1450 for parts and $1470 for labor. Other dealerships in a reasonable radius wanted as much as $1800 for labor.

 

For those with the kit on an OR. Can you take pics of how your springs sit?

Allegedly this kit is reusing the original springs but I'm not sure anymore.

 

The TRD lift package comes with the Toyota 3/36 warranty if installed by the dealer at the time of purchase. Thats what some people are concerned about, voiding there warranty if they do a lift themselves. My question is, what makes you think after installing 1-2" larger tires the dealer wouldnt cry null and void if there is a warranty issue that comes up? Bigger tires, wider wheels arent part of that package.

 

This lift IMO is for those of us who want a level lifted truck to run 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 tires and keep that 3yr/36k warranty.
If your looking for 285s and a more capable shock for offroading I would go another route

 

I remember when the TSS service bulletin said Toyota could not calibrate the TSS because of a lift sndtslker tires. They will blame something on the larger tires 265/70s or 285, it's all taking the vehicle out of spec.
