Glad to hear you are okay. A couple months ago I came across a large accident on my way to a doctors appointment. Someone turned left in front of a Tacoma doing 80kph (50mph) in a little car. Killed the elderly passenger of the car and caused the Tacoma to roll onto its side. Other occupants of the car were rushed to hospital while the innocent driver of the Tacoma was released at the scene with minor bumps and bruises. My Subaru saved me and my family Dec 2019 and my 2016 Tacoma kept me safe May 2020. As you can imagine I am a fan of my Japanese vehicles due to the safety.

    Wow.
I was just wondering if Mobtown sliders would mess up the airbag sensors. Sucks that you were a data point here.

Wish you the best of luck in sorting everything out. Walking away is a blessing

Start getting some comps ready so you can provide them if you are not happy with the determined insurance value of your loss. I did that with the last two vehicles that were totaled and gained about 10+% value on both for 30 mins of my time. Unfortunately, the cost to replace will also be inflated so any gain in value due to the crazy used market is not an advantage unless you buy new for the replacement.

One could argue that the sliders would direct energy upwards as they bend downwards, which could increase the amount of energy delivered to the side of the doors, but it's all speculation outside of some well controlled experiments or lots of experience/expertise with vehicle collisions and structures. In any case, glas you walked away from that, looks like a heck of a collision.

Yeah. I sold a 1970 GMC C25 for 3500$ not too long ago. It was pretty beat, far from daily driver quality. All the older Chevy trucks have gone up.

Glad you are okay! That's the most important thing first and foremost! Since you are, be thankful that the used car/truck market is so over inflated right now that depending on mileage and condition, you'll probably get MSRP or close to it of a comparably equipped 2021 model. Enter your VIN, mileage, options at Edmunds and get a Carfax instant cash offer; do the same with other sites like Carvana and KBB Instant Cash Offer. Send them to the other party's insurance. If you really like the truck, see about ordering a 2022 and come close to breaking even.

I just asked a body shop today about how the inflated prices on used vehicles is affecting insurance payouts for totalled trucks.

He said the money is there, but insurance companies will try to play it off and go with what prices are on the books, and not what is on the streets.

He said it is up to you to push back low ball payouts and make them pay up. If they can make up a low ball number, it must also line up with an actual equivalent vehicle as yours for sale that you could DEMAND they purchase for you.

Obviously if the low ball comp vehicles they provide are not real and cannot be viewed by you in person then they will have to make up the difference in what comp vehicles you provide.

i’d look for a beater for now. News crazy.. we had a truckload of tacomas come
In a few days ago, they sold the same day.

Glad you're ok somewhat. I have mobtown sliders and this actually makes me feel safer. That person must have been going at least 40 at impact.

Speed limit was 55, but I think they were speeding. I always get passed on that section of road by people doing 60-65 when I’m going to work.
