Honestly, I may just leave them since they're white already. We'll see how much of a difference you can tell once installed.

Max Powell may be able to help you that.

I mean, what would it take to roll on some Durabak while they're off the truck? It'll give the gel-coat a little protection. Maybe.

Yeah yeah yeah, you're right. I'll do it, but not sure if I'll do it right away. May be lazy and wait a month or two.

I wouldn't expect anything less. It's a virus. I have truck parts that have been sitting in my garage since Christmas.

You'll have to let me know how that repair goes. When I replaced my idler pullies I noticed I too have seepage from the front main seal. Not sure what caused it.

EDIT: Found this pretty decent walk through on youtube.

It *seems* pretty straightforward, so we’ll see. I’ll tackle that next week most likely, assuming the seal is here by then.

Yeah, He made the bumping the starter portion seem drama free. I will probably copy him and use a tie down to keep the bar in place.

Good plan. Or the flat style if you don't have room.

Randy do you have pictures of tubbing for the 35s? Or know about what date you did it so I can go back and look? Probably won't be the same as the t4r and I've got the skinnies but I'm curious and bored. I went backwards to the mid 3100s yesterday and didn't see it

edit: nvm it was literally on page 3098 :anonymous:

If you're really good at digging, you can find that I've also tubbed a 3rd gen 4runner before that. Neither were particularly difficult, just very time consuming. First you have to pull back the carpet and wiring on the inside, then just get to cutting on the firewall.

Have the coilover removed with a floor jack under it so you can shove it up to full bump. Keep cutting and hammering as needed until there's sufficient clearance. Then weld on some sheet metal to cover it up.

I also posted up a bunch of pics in here.

Also @y=mx+b the search function is pretty handy if you're looking for a specific thing. Really narrows it down.

Thanks! yeah I should have searched, but I just got sidetracked and kept reading backwards further and further because I was bored and you did a lot of neat stuff with the WFH time.

Initially I think I'm gonna cheat with the SPCs and run like no caster lol with the LCAs pushed forward then hammer/cut what I can. I do have whiteline bushings, but I would like to get to where I don't have to have the LCA bushings all wacked with the LCA pushed forward or limiting travel with bumps to prevent rubbing when turning, so a proper tubbing is eventually in order. I also probably need to get a better than mediocre welder.

Yep. My parents still live there, and Mechanicsville is where I would still call my "home" as I am barely a real adult. I'm in Annapolis for an internship, but I go back to Mechanicsville just about every weekend to work on my 4runner or help out at home because I live in an apartment and I love seeing my family

    We're almost neighbors!

I'd say a better welder is a must if you're going to tackle that, something with solid wire and shielding gas. I couldn't imagine trying to weld that thin stuff with flux.
