I was hit by a vehicle that was illegally in my lane over a double yellow. Waiting for insurance. But really itching just to fix it my self. I’m thinking new tie rod and maybe axle. My brake lines are good no fluids anywhere. Hoping my frames not tweaked and my rack is okay. My bumper and tire took all the hit. Yikes!

I wouldn’t touch it if you’re planning on filing a claim with your insurance.

trust me it’s really hard not to fix it ASAP. I believe there at fault so I’m waiting. But it makes me depressed seeing it like this lol.

Aslong as the LC mounts arnt bent should be an easy fix. Looks like you just need a new tie rod and CV.

Yeah I'd get that looked over by a shop at least, then decide what you want to take on yourself. Have them make sure the frame's not tweaked. Good chance your spindle and arms should get replaced as well, if they got tweaked at all you'll never get a good alignment.

Ya know.. with as much as everyone points to the LBJ as the weakest link in the chain, I'm surprised that it survived... But I also wouldn't take any chances and replace it as well.

Yup, that shock tower might have gotten tweaked too,
It doesn’t take much to throw out an alignment

I wouldn't touch it until the adverse carrier accepts liability & then you'll want an estimate from a repair shop as that's what they'll use to determine settlement

A trusted shop needs to look that over anyway to ensure all issues are addressed. There is often stuff overlooked or unseen until you get into the project. Roughly 3/4 of auto claims be it pd or collision get some sort of supplement. A lot of that is shop driven but not all of it.

    Upper control arm
    Lower control arm
    Lower ball joint
    Tie rod
    Steering rack
    CV axle
    Spindle

All those items are possibly compromised; you didn't ask to get hit so fuck it, let them cover it all if you feel it's damaged now.

Or maybe total it out, buy it back, and sell @eon_blue that fender :burp:

Use the money from the payout to go long travel and get wider fenders.

Definitely don't touch it until your insurance gives you the quote.

If your insurance determines it's all their fault, you shouldn't even have to pay your deductible.

The problem with taking the cash right away is that, as others said, they may not catch ALL of what's damaged in the initial estimate. If the shop is doing it, they may take it apart and find something else damaged, and make a supplement to the estimate. If you take the cash and DIY, you effectively forfeit that.

To add to the list of what others have said, your steering rack could be suspect, too. Basically everything is suspect.

So unless you're wanting to upgrade parts, and not just replace like for like, I'd let the shop do it.

And remember, you can pick whatever shop you want to do the repairs. Don't let them force you to use "their" shop.

What you need is to have a professional inspect your truck. A few pictures isn’t gonna reveal the whole story.

My aftermarket items are covered under my insurance.

I can't say if yours covers it because every insurance company is different, not to mention every policy.

I just hope you have good insurance.

Don't touch it! I had something similar happen to my second gen 3 years ago. I took it to a ship that deals with trucks with aftermarket parts. I did have body damage also. When all was said and done it was $11,000 in repairs. The little things that you can't see add up quick. If you don't find all the issues it will never drive the same.
