that catalytic converter, looks like a silver football, gets super hot, so make sure you try and keep the hose as far away from it as possible.

I just finished mine. I used a clamp and the 5/8 heater hose, hose is really short and I intentionally wanted it to have a more downward angle to make sure it drains. I just ran it straight down behind and in between the splashguard flap that has the 2 snaps close together. Video was about 2 minutes in to starting the truck. After trimming the hose at the angle I left it, water started draining out before even starting up.

Does this problem still apply to the 2020 Tacomas? You would think Toyota woulda fixed it by now... and I don't want to read through all the posts. Thanks!

Most likely Toyota will never "fix" the problem since they do not see it as a problem at all. o_O:annoyed:

Yeah, it does. I did the mod on my 2021 before I started driving it.

Thanks for the picture showing the size 5/8 heater hose.

Just did this last night on my 21 TRD OR. The ac drain hose kept moving in and out of the fire wall as I was fitting heater hose over it. It had quite a bit of play in terms of in and out of the fw. Anyone experience this and should I be concerned?

Yes, mine is the same. There should be a white line as a guide point as to where the hose should be to the firewall (I could be wrong) but the 5/8 house slides over it and held together by the clamp. Yours should look like mine.

Put the 2ft 5/8 heater hose over the existing 4” drain. Put the hose clamp and ran it through the frame and tie wrapped it. Thank you to the people who pointed out this to us. FYI. Took 5 minutes

Did my mod yesterday...hardest part was getting those plastic rivets out. I ended up turning a Joe's Crab Shack peeler into a trim tool.

Dumb question: Is there any worry about having the extended hose length during the winter/cold weather? Has any one had any problems with that?

None whatsoever. Just make sure that the hose is always pointing downward when you install it.

Did Toyota change anything for 2021? I’m trying to follow OP’s routing, but he states to use “2nd hole” in the pictures. My 2021 SR only has 1. Any help would be appreciated.
