How far below E can you go?

I got my truck down right to the E line today, with 1 mile remaining according to the display. Pulled in to fill up and only had to put in 18.75gal

Which makes me wonder, how many more miles could I get out of this if I went full Kramer? Gotta be at least 40 miles with that much gas left in the tank

 

Would never try... I never go below 1/4 tank on any of my cars/bikes.

 

If you were my son, I would take away driving privileges for a month.

Depends, anywhere between 10-40 miles if you're a gambling man that can mean anywhere between 1-4 hrs waiting on someone to show up with a gas can depending on when it leaves you.

That just isn't true. For the Taco, the pumps live in a separate canister that has a pool of fuel in it. Beyond that, most all LPFPs are a flow through design. Fuel is picked up on the bottom and pumped out the top. There is absolutely no heat issue beyond the actual ambient temps, which had increased the failure rates of the Recalled pumps.


Also, the DI HPFP does an arguably harder job and lives on the top of the engine.

 

Go full kramer for us...Run it dry. Then report back here with the results.

 

That fuel doesn't really do any good when it is out though.

Would not recommend trying. Just did this this past weekend (and got gas before it shot up again). I filled up with about 18.3 gallons. If you think about it, your tank is a 21 gallon tank and 3 gallons doesn't really leave that much space to ensure the fuel pickup has ample fuel, especially if you are at the wrong angle for too long, etc.

 

That is just not true.

 

"Yet" being the key word. Fact is once or twice isn't likely to be what kills the fuel pump.

 

Okay. Yet can also mean never.

 

The fuel pickup area doesn't have unlimited fuel...

Nor does the tank, but your explanation doesn't jive with reality.

 

When you get to 0 a message saying “Please Refuel” pops up. I’ve personally went over 25 miles after that. DCLB with armor and 33” tires, shell, etc… when I filled up it took 20.5 gallons. In theory I could have went another 10-15 miles.

I also keep a 20L nato can in the back.
