I can 100% say with certainty that the area you are drilling holes for the bed stiffeners is metal, NOT composite. I put in TC ones and that riser at the back is metal not composite.

I sprayed mine with rustoleum to ensure they didn't rust.

I was thinking of using STA-BIL Rust Stopper spray, which performed the best in the video below. What do you spray this stuff on exactly? I've never done it before.

Ya Know I just went out and looked at mine and now I agree with you. That section is not continuous with the textured part of the composite bed. So basically the bed stiffeners are not "directly" supporting the composite bed. They are directly supporting the metal frame around the bed, preventing both from flexing outwards. Now I feel like I need to go buy some rustoleum, take those 4 bolts out and give it a spray!

Well it wasn’t today but Monday I finally installed my anytime backup camera as a front camera and the switch to activate either front or rear at any time. I’m definitely not an electrician but I did pretty good. Sorry no pics of it.

Got my bed lights in with the help of my 9 year old son. Luckily the 2020 was prewired for them and it took all of 5 minutes.

Anytime I drill into metal, I use this stuff. It's $$$, but I use just a little. Qtip makes quick work of drilled holes, cheap insurance. A quart will last years.

Traded in my 2017 Taco for a 2021 TRD Off Road yesterday. So changed insurance, went to DMV and ordered a hard bed cover today.
