Here are some pics of brand new lifted trucks being sold at a Toyota dealer in Oakland CA. I know for a fact that 4wheel parts of Oakland did the work. The Tacoma is sitting on the Pro-Comp 3" lift and the Tundra is on a Pro-Comp 4-6" or something like that. So if your not getting warranty work done because the dealer said you lifted your truck, print these out and take them to the service manager(s). Hope this helps!

Usually the M-Moss Act takes care of most issues, but I'd be more interested in how much the stealership wants for something like that!

But if they are being sold new with a lift, the dealer usually warranties the work.

the dealers cant refuse warranty work unless they prove the aftermarket part caused the need for repair.

Damn well better or they don't get a sale...

But one thing you do know, Toyota won't guarantee the mods or the problems they could cause if done poorly.

That might be true but at least they warranty the truck. A friend and i had 2000 and 2001 dodge rams with 4"lifts and 35s.he blew a trans at 1500 miles and my rear was fucked up. Both dealers voided the warranty

If the lift caused it then they were within their rights to do that.

If it could not have then it should have been challenged. The whole warranty can't be voided because one thing was modded. I'm not sure...maybe Chrysler has/had really pissy costumer orientation.

NO mention of the problem? What kind of warranty issue are you having and what kind of lift do you have that would cause them to turn you down? Details before we take sides.

I own a truck that was lifted by 4WP as requested by the dealer.

The truck comes with several additional papers/stickers that identify the differences (reduced load carrying, tire pressure and something else--I forget). There is no mention of voiding warranties because of the lift they installed.

One of the items added by 4WP was a billet grill. It fell off. Admittedly, the guys in the service department didn't know who or how to handle that. But 4WP took the VIN off the truck and after ack'ing they did the work, ordered a new grill. Done.

4WP does not balance the tires they install (or if they do, it was a shitty job). The dealer spent an inordinate amount of time doing that too.

If something breaks that would normally covered under warranty, like propulsion shafts or joints, it might be a different story and since that's how they sold it, it's gonna be an issue for me. I can see the dealer not wanting to warranty another's work or the damage that may have been caused by it--because they have no recourse whereas work done by 4WP through the dealer has recourse through 4WP.

    Make sense?

    In theory.

In reality they may force you to drag them to court and get a judgment to that effect before they do the work. That's probably going to be more expensive for you than the repair.

If you mod, expect the dealer to deny essentially all warranty work. Make peace with it.

It's possible, but my experience has been the total opposite. They've covered multiple incidents that could have definitely been related to mods/offroading.
