The stock battery in my Taco is done for, and I am looking to get one today hopefully, or at least order it. 2017 v6 with towing package, so it has the 27F battery and not the 24f. I know a walmart Everstart or a Costco battery works just fine, but I've always upgraded to AGM batteries when replacing one, and since I plan on doing a sound system with amps, and more lighting, I would prefer to get an AGM battery. Optima yellow top (27f) is $300+, too expensive. I've had a yellow top last over 2 years on different truck. Heard Optima red top is no better , maybe worse, than most standard batteries that come with a warranty. Or are red tops decent batteries, and are they agm?

3 options I'm wondering about right now because at least 2 are ready to go pick up here in San Diego:
    Napa legend premium AGM - group 24f - $199
Duralast Gold from autozone (lead acid) - group 27f - $170
Everstart platinum AGM- group 24f - $147 (Walmart.com -might have to order)

Pretty sure all 3 of these said 710 CCA. So would you guys go with a group 24f AGM over a lead acid 27f? I think the optima red top 24f is $199 as well, if that beats these 3 options...

If one of the 24f options is the way to go, would i need an adapter kit or spacer kit because it's smaller than the 27f? Please let me know, thanks

    ^ This.

But on to the question at hand. I replaced the OEM lead acid battery with the Everstart platinum AGM-24F, probably a week after purchasing my Tacoma.
Three years isn't much of a battery testimonial, but my truck often sits for weeks in between use, and so far so good with the economical AGM choice.

You're right. Somehow that 24f AGM they told me was in stock, isn't in stock. Now I can't find anyone in san diego who has a 24f AGM in stock...any recommendations? Or which one I can order/website or Amazon, that might bee able to ship within 2-3 days? Ive always been able to locate the battery I want almost right away lol

You could do an interstate AGM from Costco for $94. It’s not a 24f, but it will fit with slight modding.

Ok. Could have been $97. Whatever. It was under $100. That was 6 months ago though.

    Boise Costco. Idaho

I’ll take a pic after I get out of the tub :D

I made no such claim. You asked for a link and I provided one free of charge and of bias.

I just have a shitty old stock Toyota battery. It has treated me okay enough.

    Have a nice Friday, benny

To piggy back on this, I'll need one soon. Will all 24F batteries have the same total capacity? I dont know a ton about batteries but I do plan on adding lights and an Amp in the near future. Don't want to spend a crap ton on a battery but also understand its one of those things that you spend extra on for piece of mind.

I had a Advance Auto Parts Silver Series battery in my 2000 TJ that lasted an honest 7 years. I took it in at 5 year and told them I wanted a new battery, they tested it and the dude said I'll take your money, but your battery is good.

The Jeep sat out in the Florida sun too, but it didn't have shit for electronic stuff on it. No added anything, and didn't have power windows or AC.

I got a Duralast 24F AGM. I think it was $150 or $200... No way was I putting out 300+ for an Odyssey. Maybe they are better and maybe not, but there is an Advance Auto every 30 miles if you need a warranty replacement.

I had to call corporate to get charging specs on the battery when I got tuned. They said it was made by Johnson Controls but under a different name that they recently changed to or something like that.

@9th - You got lucky, or Costco got screwed by their employee - pick one, or both. The lead-acid battery is $99 the AGM right beneath it is $159. Either way - good on ya man - that's a fantastic price for an AGM!
