Bike A is the one in Santa Fe I posted a couple pages back, Revel Rascal. Only way I could justify buying her a $5k bike would be by selling my current bike and have bike A be my primary except for when she rides from time to time. Not being confident I'll be happy on that small of a bike brings me serious pause. Plus I just sunk Push money into my Evil and I reaaallllyyy like that bike. Pretty sure I'd regret letting that one go.

That Rascal is a sweet bike, but I don't think its worth selling a bike that 1. fits and 2. you love for a bike thats a gamble.

Rascal is still on my list for sure. That CBF suspension sounds like it rides bigger than it is. I kind of group the Rascal with the 140 bikes vs the 120 bikes if that makes sense. BUUUT....keep me in mind if you sell or part out that Following!

Not really as its not likely going to be for sale. Just day dreaming.
Once you go Evil its hard not to be Evil.

Agreed. My being on the bubble between S/M for most every brand I've never truly known what was the 'right' size for me. I've always gone up in size, but have never really given the smaller option a try. The small Rascal on paper just seems much smaller than my medium Following.

That Rascal is such a sexy looking rig to me.

If you are interested in having some modularity in a bike I would entertain a Guerrilla Gravity. They come sort of outfitted from the factory with adjustable reach. I researched it as a bike for my wife that I could occasionally throw a leg over and we could do a size 2 frame. I would just have to adjust the headset if I wanted to ride it.

Revel makes some good looking bikes. but I'd also agree with you. It's hard not to be evil.

But yeah, I'd echo everyone else. don't bother with stem swapping. Just get a different bike. messing around with sizing wouldn't be great. BUT, you COULD just give it a whirl just for shiggles.

GG makes some interesting bikes for sure. Their modularity is quite something.

EVIL has the coolest looking linkage system for sure! Compared to SC, Pivot, and Yeti they’re not terribly priced either.

I have June 18 (juneteenth) off next week. Thinking Angel Fire may be the move. Head down there Thursday night, camp (this is pretty easy right?), ride Friday, maybe Saturday too.

    Anyone interested?

I like the look of Evil and SC linkage designs the best. After that the typical vertical shock linkage allows for clean lines on a frame I think. Least favorite are the various horizontal shock designs. Not that the looks the linkage layout plays any real role in my bike choice.

Found a new favorite close to home. Super tight and steep switchbacks on the way up, and some exposure and beautiful views on the way down. 9F4E6EF9-F6D6-4F28-A06F-50E338B999CB.jpg

Yes, you would you sick bastard. Be patient, find her a good deal FS bike that fits and keep that beauty.
The right thing to do is keep your bike and get her the right bike.
That Revel is way too small for you, and however good it rides doesn’t matter if sizing and fit isn’t right. Besides, most modern suspension designs are damn good nowadays so waiting to find even a “budget” bike, like a Giant, that fits her would definitely improve her enjoyment and yours.
Damn, so wish I could. You’ll love it man. Camping is stupid easy, they let you camp in their parking lot. Which is awesome cause you can pedal right from you site.
If you want something less social, the hills around provide plenty of sites as well.

For sure buddy. The used market being so nuts I’m leaning more toward a new ‘budget’ full suspension.

Availability is obviously the bigger hurdle currently. There a few options available local-ish (or shippable) in her size I’m looking into:

    Trek Fuel EX 5
    Marin Rift Zone 1
    Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt A10
    Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy
    Orbea Occam H30

Marin and RM are GREAT options. But I'm biased towards them because my LBS carries them. The stumpy alloy is nice albeit heavy. The Occam is also nice but I think it is already showing some age in terms of geo. I could be wrong though. I don't look at Orbea's often.

The Marin and RM are the front runners, followed by the Spesh. Most due to pricing and proximity.

The Orbea is a dark horse as it just happens to be in stock at a shop that also carries spesh. Also the most expensive.

Which colour is the Thunderbolt? I just built the first purple/green Thunderbolt we've recieved this year. That colour is so good!

I almost grabbed one for my own wife this season but I sold it to a customer instead.
