They just upped my quote to 44k for mine from 43k. Still shit compared to the mid trims with 50-80k miles which all seem to be getting 33-39k offers. Nearly new ones other than that one trd pro posted here are kind of shitty (compared to others)

Received my direct transfer payment today from Vroom. Below my overall timeline, and experience using Vroom.

5/8/21 - Inputted my truck information into Vroom and was offered a price of $40,349.00 (Price expired in 7 days or 250 miles)

5/9/21 - I accepted their offer. Upon accepting I needed to upload pictures of my title, driver's license, registration, lien-holder release document, and a picture of the odometer. I uploaded them and was reviewed by Vroom. They offered direct deposit of funds vs check. Opted for direct transfer and linked my bank account information with them. Later in the day, I received via email some documents to sign using DocuSign. They sent me a tracking number of a FedEx package with the additional required paperwork to fill out (statement of facts form). They also required I sign my title to them and include it with the signed statement of facts form.

5/11/21 - Received the FedEx package around 11 AM EST. Signed their statement of facts form and signed my title. (only wanted name and signature, no date or miles stated). Mailed everything back the same day.

5/12/21 - My signed title and statement of facts received by Vroom at 10 AM.

5/13/21 - After they received my signed title their communication went completely dark. No email telling me it was received and they are reviewing it or anything.

5/14/21 - Getting very concerned at this point I call their support. The call center associate didn't know what to do and first told me its on hold as they're re-evaluating my price. This triggered me as I have a signed and agreed-upon contract with a set price already. They then tried to transfer me to a different department for more information. I was on hold for 15+ minutes and had a call for work so I had to drop. Sent an email asking for the status instead (never received a reply).

5/16/21 - I wait another two days to allow them to process it. Still no communication. Called again and was transferred around but finally got to someone. They told me there was a 14 day waiting period (their policy) on the title due to it being issued recently. Would be nice to been communicated that vs being in an unknown land for nearly a week + at the time of this conversation it was actually three days past their 14-day policy period. The nice lady on the phone said she is putting in the request to move forward with scheduling the pickup. She estimated 3-4 business days more to arrange pickup.

5/17/21 - After escalating with Vroom over the weekend to my surprise, Monday 5/17/21 they sent me an email that Acertus has been assigned to pick up the truck and will be contacting me in 2-3 days to pick up the truck.

5/21/21 - Waited a few days for Acertus to pick up the truck but no communication from Acertus. Called Acertus 3 times for some kind of update. I waited on hold for 10+ minutes and each time their system would tell me no one is available and the call would end. Called Vroom to escalate again...and Vroom tells me Acertus is still looking for a driver and likely get a call early to mid-next week.

5/28/21 - Received no communication from Acertus on picking up my truck until 5/28. It took them two weeks from being assigned to pick up my truck to actually doing it. The guy picking up the truck called me 1 hour ahead to let me know he will soon be there to load up the truck. This was annoying to be giving short notice like this after zero communication. They came directly to my home and overall the guy was nice. He took pictures of any damage and provided me the Bill of Lading via email. I sent this to Vroom which is required for them to process payment.

5/29/21 - I received an email confirmation for the Bill of Lading I sent Vroom. The email said will be processing payment in 2-3 business days. I then received an email about an hour later that they sent payment via direct deposit and should see it in the bank within 1-2 business days.

6/1/21 - Officially received payment via direct deposit into my account of the agreed-upon price of $40,349.

Overall I was not pleased with my experience with Vroom but ultimately it worked out. They offered about $1,700 more than CarMax. Their lack of communication, partner carrier, and overall length of completion would keep me from using them again. This was nearly a month to complete and I had to be proactive with many support calls to get them to tell me anything about next steps. There a 250 mile limit on the vehicle being sold as well. If this was my main vehicle it would have been difficult to keep under the 250-mile requirement. If you can wait up to a month to get paid for your vehicle and Vroom offers you $1,500+ more than the next best offer then it might be okay but I personally will not use Vroom again.

Update: 6/3/21: Vroom posted my Truck for $42,499. One interesting point. I provided them 3 keys but their listing shows it comes with only one key. So they must had lost two keys or incorrectly listing it. https://www.vroom.com/inventory/toyota-tacoma-2019-3TMCZ5AN5KM228165

    I sold my 2019 Tacoma SR DCSB 4x4 V6 14K miles to Driveway.com for $38K
It was a lease, they paid it off and sent me $10K :)

pretty painless, biggest obstacle was I had to drive it 3.5 hours to the closest Lithia dealership.

I got offers from all the players:
    Vroom
    Carvana
    CarMax
    Shift
    Auto-Nation
    Driveway

Easiest would have been Auto-Nation but they were $1700 less than Driveway, the others were about $2K less or I was out of their service area

Driveway was very easy, outside of their closest physical location to me.

Did the buy quote online, got an instant quote (which was the final offer/actual buy price)
Did a walk around via ZOOM
Delivered the truck to the dealership and mgr did a walk around to verify condition, signed paperwork, this was on a friday.
Tuesday morning got the funds wired to my bank account.

21 Trade in values for a 3rd pro.
Vroom went up from 44k to 46k.
    Carvana went down to 42.5k

I'm trying out Autonation next and CarMax as well.

I have had the exact same experience as you with Vroom. I have a tracking number and am set to receive my check today, so it seems to have all worked out. Very little communication and you have to reach out to them constantly for an update or any information at all. Sold my wife's leased 4runner to Carvana back in September and that experience was great. Carvana was very quick and they showed up as scheduled with a check at pickup. If you can deal with the hassle, Vroom does seem to consistently pay more than the others.

I just got a quote for 33,317 from Vroom lol. I paid 32.2 when new. Once the quotes start covering inflation, my truck is gone lol. About 4k to go, will it make it?

Carvana was 29 and some change.

This is returned to stock, cleaned up and with 59k miles. Utter madness.

I paid 24,000 for my used 2017 2wd access cab in 2019. Carvana is offering me 30,000 now. Granted, I haven't put many miles on it in the two years I've owned it (at 38,000 now), but this is crazy. I'm very tempted. I come out with $3k in profit even considering what I had to pay in taxes and fees.

If you don't have to find a replacement right now, then do it. Easiest transaction ever and they bring the check.

depending on your state, you are going to save money on taxes by trading it in vs selling it to them. for example, in my state (and probably most others) if you trade in a vehicle for $30000 and then buy a vehicle that's $35000, you only pay tax on the $5000 delta.

Got a a great offer from carmax for my 2019 ORP 4runner. Offered $45k. I paid new almost a year and a half ago.... $37k. I only owe $20.5k on it so as soon as I am done moving it is getting sold. Wait a couple months for a Taco built the way I want in Green. I want a TRD with Advance Tech and LED Headlight packages. MSRP $39k.

Interesting. They are about $1k higher than vroom and all the bad stories about vroom had me not wanting to go with them. I think i will be going with driveway.com.

    Thanks!
